Easy title, easy topic, now let's discuss. And no console war garbage allowed; this is game-only, regardless of system.

I think Dead Space is very underrated right now and I think it'll be one of the best action/horror games of this Gen.

Is a sleeper hit game an underrated game that actually turns out to be really good or is it one that sells really well? Cause I think many will buy Haze despite all the low review scores. Note: I'm not saying people will enjoy it or hate it, I'm saying I think many will buy it.

    Prototype is 2009 now though

Sleeper games unfortunately aren't really successful. So are we talking about success in sales or reviews

If in sales, i guess a sleeper hit could be maybe Dead Space

If in reviews, my guess would be saints row.

Aren't sleeper hits ones where they don't sell well but are reviewed well and have a positive attitude towards them much like cult classics?

Dead Space I'm looking forward too as well

lol, maybe we should start by defining a "sleeper hit" cause I'm confused

    Nice topic.
As for Dead Space, I agree with all of you but considering the fact that EA is making it, I'm pretty sure they'll start uber hyping it closer to Halloween.
    My choices are:

    1. Alone in the Dark
    2. They
    3. Mercenaries 2
    4. The Precursors
    5. Dead Island
    6. World of Goo
    7. DeBlob

As sonarus said, it's delayed to 2009.

Yea. I would say maybe Little Big Planet...assuming it doesn't sell too well. Maybe viva pinyata or BK3. It will be one of those artsy games

I think the fact that most people have suddenly gone "yeah, Haze is definitely a failure" as soon as they saw the 4.5 IGN review is ridiculous. It's not like IGN's word is the gospel...

I'm not saying the game's good or bad, it's just that, as soon as that review came out, people were instantly disappointed with the game, despite the positive reviews it's recieved elsewhere. Have we really got to the stage where everyone's opinion is decided by a single website?

I think people should start getting back into the habit of thinking for themselves.

What did we do back when internet didn't exist? I remember walking into a store and looking at the fancy boxarts when I was a kid and picking the coolest one

Edit: Just to be clear: I agreed with you LJ. My English limits me

I'm saying!! Haze got a 4.5 but Army of Two got a 7.9. There's no way in hell Haze could be worse than Army of Two.

That's how I got the awesomeness of Gunstar Heroes  and Ranger X back in the day.  To some extent ChronoTrigger too because I was a Toriyama fan back then even though I knew what the game was supposed to be about.

In any case, provided it didn't slip to 2009, Brutal Legend will be that sleeper that everyone will sleep on and then realize the mistake they made a year later.

Saboteur, and yes I want that too since Pandemic kicks tons of ass.

First of all, you were a kid. As hard as it is to believe from reading some of the comments on this site, the majority are teenagers, or older. Also, you at least went out and saw, decided for yourself. I'm sure "Jeff from IGN" didn't come along, tell you what to think and what game to pick, for you to obey him like a blind, brainless sheep. That's the impression I get from a lot of people on this site.

I think a sleeper hit will be Left 4 Dead. If they manage to make the game addictive it will be a surefire hit.

I don't think that qualifies as a "sleeper" hit, most people are already pretty hyped for it. It will be a hit, but we'll see it coming.

Your right. I'd rather hear impressions from you guys and base my decision on that then a review. I think my earlier post just wound up a little weird
