Hey guys, I have recently been having problems with my XBOX 360 going red ringing on me.
But it's not that bad, it's only the 2 rings of death, (overheating).

But the reason why I have brung this up to the forums is because this has only started happening with GTA 4.
I may play like an hour or two, my console is well insulated; not in a hot area or cooped up in a tight place.
And BOOM 2 rings, and this keeps happening more, any fixes or any info onto why this is causing the problem.

Its pretty common as I'm sure you know, but i can't see it being GTA related. Probally just a coincidence.

No, I know this is GTA 4 because it has never ever happened to me before hand, this is only after a few hours of play. I dunno, I'll post back if it happens again.

Maybe the fan is a bit worn out and doesnt work as effectively so your 360 overheats ?

Yeah its overheat I have seen this issue increase as RROD decreased in recent time but if its GTA 4 only try other games too if they work alright your disc might be the issue or your Drive might be dirty. Clean the drive with a DVd lens cleaner and then see. Get a good one not a chaep one

Hey, I assume you tried another game other than GTA to see if it happens right?

Try another game.....try a cooler place...

On a side note, i live in NYC....and its like the middle of May, and it was 40 degree today, WTF?! how is it still cold?!

Maybe it's coupled with the increase in warmer temperatures? Not sure, i'd blow on your fan vent to clear the dust out, and maybe look into that cooler add on that reduces your xbox's temperature.

DO NOT GET A INTERCOOLER!
They draw more power thru the console. More electricity equals greater temperatures. If anything try setting it up vertically and putting a cheap fan behind it.

When did you bought your Xbox360? I've got myself a new Xbox360 with Heatsink and 65n chip. Thatway your console won`t get that hot anymore!

Am not playing GTA 4 anymore, because of the problem. but it worked for me sometimes. When you first get to the apartment don't put autosave. idk how it worked but it did for me. but now you going to say well how do i save it, i don't want to go back to the beginning. just save it by yourself at the apartment then you will be all done. just don't put auto save thats all. I hope this helps!

think logically its not GTA IV its something to do with your system, either a fan not working properly? or overtime dust could have built up on your heatsinks which keep your CPU/GPU cool and if this has happened then the temperature of your Xbox 360 will be hotter.

you COULD take it a part and clean it yourself but you will loose your 3 year warrenty and then if you get the 3 red lights you either have to pay for the repaire or a whole new system.

either way its not because of GTA IV
