ORIGINAL: Hellbringer It will have some affect in NA since the economy in US is currently crap. Over all though, we've already seen it, price is not that major of a concern for a gamer. Yea but the economy has been down for a while and the game industry is still moving up regardless. I don't think the economy will have a significant impact. I don't see someone not being able to afford $250 for a console due to poor economy all of sudden affording $200 simply because $200 is a magic number. If Msoft had seen a bigger boost last NPD, i would have been more inclined to agree with them outselling PS3 this holiday season but as far as i can tell, that hasn't happened. Well... I know its psychologic pricing but... 199 bucks to a lot of people sounds a lot, I say a lot cheaper then 249 bucks. Just because that 2 is gone, although its virtually 200 bucks ofcourse. Besides that, history has proven that the XBOX 1 started selling when it got under 200 bucks, the PS2 the same. 200 bucks seems the magical number for the mass of people back then the wii didnt exist though Yes it was... But it was called the Gamecube, just missed the motion sensor and had some lower clocked (but the same) hardware. But even then: Viva Piniata on TV is rather big. Viva Piniata is now on NDS, kids would want Viva Piniata 2 and parents don't mind spending 199 bucks instead of 249 for a Wii this Christmas.
