a RUMOR about a blue ray 360 is going around. If its true could that actualy benifet the ps3, since microsoft would of had to pay sony for the rights and other crap like that?

Anyone that was planning to pic up a PS3 for blu-ray alone would now pick up a 360 that's cheaper instead.

Market share is more important than short term profits macroscopically.

in north america almost no one buys a PS3 for movies

Plus after MGS4 do you think anyone would buy PS3 solely for movies?

read MS statements given to Kotaku. Those are very much the statements of a defeatist. They said that they were happy to do well in markets where they were previously written off

Are you saying that they could not be used for games or that that most of its use would be movies?

Also if they made games on the blue ray for 360 wouldnt sony get money from it to?

I am saying that Blu Ray would become the standard by the end of this year.

Almost everyone will be using a BD drive and so could MS

but unlike PC world the gaming world would be remaining unaffected by MS decision to include BD for x360.

However it would definitely benefit SONY since 90% of x360 owners are HC gamers who also like purchasing movies too

no one downloads movies except some pirates . a BD movie take 25 gig/50 gig space.

DVD sales havent dipped this year

even MS is including BD for x360

and so would Apple,HP,DELL and other companies

yea that HAPPENS by the end of this year when BD drive cost plunges down to 100$

Yes...They aren't useful for backing up files, or useful for putting those 8 DVD/multiple CD/DVD PC Games, see Age of Conan (30gigabytes), Crysis on one disc.

My school just replaced their entire back up system with blu-ray drives.

Unless you meant in the context of gaming and media, but I don't think you did.

It wont be USED for games

since there are already around 17 million x360 owners without BD drive

so all games on x36- would be made with DVD on mind.

It changes nothing except for some loyal X360 movie enthusiasts who could watch BD movies too on their x360

Keep dreaming ****/Lenhart/AlexM Blu-ray will not become standard by the end of this year, maybe end of 09 but not 08

im not realy worried about it but even though sony would benifet from all of the blueray stuff.
do you think that it could be bad in terms of the games on blueray for 360?

FF13 will be 50 gig or more
