First of all, I'm REALLY new here.
I needed a few tips to help me start.
Here's a few questions.
1) What are the numbers with the degrees stand for?
2) How can I upgrade past "Gamer"
3) Whats this about submitting news?

If you want to upgrade past Gamer and become a contributor just go to the main page and click submit news. It should say that you are not a contributor and suggest to take the N4G contributor's test. N4G is a news aggregator. Basically without the contributors there wouldn't be N4G as all of the articles and news are taken from other sites around the net.

The temperature on the story is relative to how many page views it gets. Basically if it is a really high heat index that means that a lot of people have viewed that story. In order for a story to hit the front page a story has to reach over 50 degrees. Stories that don't generate a lot of hits stay in their respective channels.

Submitting news is the same as I explained initially. N4G doesn't writes it own stories except for Blogs and User Reviews. It is basicallly just a collective of all the other gaming websites. As you contribute news, leave comments, etc. you will gain N4G points..:)

Oh god, he's asking about the news. I'll give it a few days, then I predict he'll forget about the forums and make it his life goal to try and submit as much pointless, stupid things as possible on this site. He'll forget about the real world and not realize the money that you might earn isn't worth the time it takes to look for news and submit it throughout the entire month.

Come on guys he makes an honest post and all he gets is 8 reply's of spam?

1)The degrees measure how "hot" a story is and this is determined by the number of times it's views, commented on, and how long it takes for the story to get so many of each. The actual formula for it is a closely guarded secret by the admins

2) Take the Contributor Test here

3) If/When you become a contributor you may submit gaming news that you find around the web.
