Before I start, let me just say I really really really really really really really really really really effing hate windows vista. I've had nothing but bluescreens, and lag since i first ordered this computer. My dad and little bro wanted windows so they wouldn't have to use WINE for every game, and so my dad could pay his bills on his computer.

Anyway, I want to know what a good media player is for windows, as of now my linux computer is downloading/installing too many things to be used at the moment, and for awhile since i'm too lazy to go upstairs. I need a media player that won't hog up so much memory like iTunes. I'd use windows media player but it reads off my external hard drive way to slow, and it's made by MS so it's obviously crap. Just like everything else they make.

I mean really, I JUST reinstalled vista, and i've had nothign but blue screens and lag(as stated earlier) none of my favorite oldish skool games work, without crashing. Every time i need something from microsoft I HAVE to use IE7.

Agh, sorry im starting to rant.

I need a media player that doesn't hog up much memory, easier to use and more stable than windows media player. SOmething like Rhythmbox Music Player for Ubuntu.

VLC...idk what it does with music files, but its been real good to me when it comes to videos

i would just use itunes for music tho, sorts them out all nice, and you can get some pretty decent free podcasts from itunes that are sometimes worth watching/listening to, like the ESPN ones or G4 podcasts

Yeah, I'm not really into podcasts. I, unlike many, prefer to read than watch. I know iTunes sorts everything nice, I love iTunes, but it hogs up too much memory. And since I'm running on Microcock Windows ****sta it doesn't run right. Piece of crap windows is. I miss my Linux machine. I miss my mac.

VLC. It plays nearly everything. Freeware has almost completely freed me from Windows.

VLC gets my vote as well for video. For mp3's, I use an old version of Winamp (I think it's 2.5 or 3). It's old, but it gets the job done w/out hogging unnecessary resources.
