I'm from Puerto Rico and I know my good portion of english and most of its slangs (My sintax isn't that good though).  I also know a lot of official and non-official, made up abrreviations.

Simple.   The point of this thread is to post Known abbreviations and what they stand for.  From day to day abbreviations, to internet and military.

Here are some  (I know most of this abbreviations are known, but for some they can be helpful)

For instance.. I don't know what O RLY means... lol   ...  hey lol's a good one -  laugh out loud    :)

AWOL - Absent Without Official Leave
ASAP - As soon as possible
DOA - Death on arrival - Dead or Alive (video game)     :)
KIA - Killed in action   not Kia motors....
MIA - Missing in action

brb - be right back
gtg - got to go
afk (haha I use to knife this guy's feet in Counter Strike) - Away from Keyboard
gg - good game
lata - cool internet word for later.    am I right???
omg - oh my god

CIA - Central Intelligence Agency
NSA - National Security Agency
NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration

YAGA - somebody told me once that yaga (clothing brand) stands for Young American Gay Assosiation...  and spelled backwards  A gay.

mmmm I'll put more later on if the thread survives, but my threads tend to die quickly..   :(     Must be the eggs...
