I have sorta an issue right now (medical/financial issues) getting the 80 GB SKU w/ MGS4, and I was told by a Gamestop employee (yeah I've heard the stories about them) around a month or so and that SKU is gone, it's limited, and hard enough to find as it is. Then told that this fall a $400 80 GB SKU will come out but WITHOUT BC! WTF?! I bought 3 cheap PS2 games already a bit ago and hope to play those too, and already bought Oblivian on clearance for PS3, I get that it seems everyone and their dog has a PS2 so it's not a big deal to some, and it's nice if this is true that the PS3 will drop $100 and still have 80GB of space (thus in theory I could simply buy a PS2 seperately for not much more than $500 and have 100% compatability, yes I know)...but I'd like to just buy one new console, with 80 GB, BC, the 2 extra USB ports, mem card slot, and it seems like I'll never get ahold of such a SKU...anyone know anything, even rumors are welcome, as long as they seem plausible...I don't know, I was told the used PS3's that have BC are like finding a winning lottery ticket too. I want a PS3, but this is frustrating, and it didn't help to oogle over all the lovely pending gems that E3 showed off either.

The regular 80gb has BC (although they say for most games, i've never had a problem). There is a 40gb sku that has less usb ports, no BC, etc. That model is being replaced by a new sku which has the same specs, but 80gigs. Now both systems (one with BC, and one without, have 80gigs). The Metal Gear bundle is for a limited time; all bundles are; the Motorstorm bundle, the Spiderman 3 bundle were all for limited times. Sometimes they have them out for a while, sometimes shorter. I personally doubt that SONY would get rid of the Metal Gear bundle until a new game comes out (perhaps LBP, or Resistance 2). Especially since these bundles have been selling so well, and the numbers for NA came out so well for SONY.

Thanks, I knew some of that, but was looking for some blanks to be filled in, and for a confirmation of what I was expecting.....I figured they would permenantly do the MGS4 bundle, but the combination of ditching that AND getting rid bumping the 40 GB SKU to 80 and keeping the same specs otherwise, leaves me disappointed. Mainly I want the BC and mem card slot, since I don't have a PS3 yet, I don't know how cumbersome only 2 USB ports may make things.
