I remember thinking that the game sounded kind of cool and wanted to check it out sometime. But then I never really got a chance to and after it was released I basically never heard anything about it again. I am curious for anyone who has spent some time with the game (At least a month of regular playing) What did you think of the game, what did you enjoy about it, what did you dislike about it?

While using my supersleuth focus, which increased my Internet Search Aptitude by 200% during the next Search, I found out the following:

- Matrix Online is still going at a steady pace of three critical missions each week. Back in March, however, one of the lead developers left the game to work on other projects.
- The style of the game is interesting, in that there are unique character class stuff - you can buy various skills and stuff and upload them to your character's mind, much like how Neo did. There are 21 end-game classes, each with staple abilities and skills from other MMO's translated into The Matrix.

Go here for more information. :D

I already done Wiki'd and Google'd it woman, but I needs ta find out from the people what the word on the street is. Fo sho. Plus now this just increases the likelihood of someone reading the wiki or google and then using that information to fabricate a story of how they played it for 2 years and loved/hated it.

I was psyched about this as well, as this was after Enter the Matrix came out so I was very interested in this.  When the game was about to come out though, all I heard was horrible things.  Both from beta testers and critics.  I ended up just passing on it and not giving it another thought.

Pax Mayne? Who's that? Oh, whatever... You do realise we're talkin' about The Matrix Online and not Enter the Matrix, right?

So it is looking like only 5 people on the planet actually played this game.

That seems to be the case, yes.

Enter the Matrix was 100x better, you got to follow the other ship's story, and the cutscenes were actual scenes they filmed with the actors from the movie.

Consider if you may miss spacecow   that the wide majority of the audience on this site are ps3 fans and not pc gamers.  i wouldn't expect many of the people on these boards to even know the game existed.

Oh, wow! I played those games so much when they came out on PS2. I loved the one that came out first, although I don't remember which one that was. Me and one of my friends spent a ton of time playing both games though.

The first one was Enter the Matrix.  I wish I still had my copy, someone borrowed it and then I never saw that person again.

I actually did HARDCORE from beta until 3 months after release. Somehow WB ****ed the game up on the last day of beta. It was pretty cool then, like City of Heroes with a better combat engine and without the superheroes and the Matrix Mythology actually got pretty deep. Also the storyline from the movies continues in the game and IS canon.

I remember the last day of beta, we were running around then the sky turned all demony red and giant eyes were looking down at us as Neo was flying around in the sky everywhere we went. That was like the first time they allowed you to see Neo in the game because until then the Machines still had his body and I don't even think it was actually Neo.

So here I am running down the street and an Agent is following me. Normally if you're spotted by an agent you better jump the hell away or somehow get the **** out of wherever you are because they're level 255 and will kill you in less than 4 hits. But apparently, this one was drunk. ..and just followed me around so I didn't attack it. Then this guy comes up and is like "WHOA why is he following you?" and I'm like "I don't know, he just did" and then the guy's like "can I hit him?" and I'm all "go for it". Then he did and the agent shouted curse words and chased him down the street and killed him. ..then came back to me. I still have no idea wtf that was about.

Then the release happened and we were all like "WTF!?". They released a patch on the last day of beta for the retail release and it made some really nasty unfavorable changes. I remember one of them screwing with the node tapping XP which sucked because it was really awesome XP, and one of the quickest ways to get to level 10 so you can use the super jump. So then I stopped playing after my time was up, then SOE bought the game off of WB and the screams of hatred ensued but I think they recovered.

We figured out how to dupe items since Lith had some stupid "character" save thing going on. If you hard disconnect before your character "saves" then you lose all items acquired after the last save, but you keep everything prior to the save. A soft disconnect saves while you log out. So armed with this knowledge and having people screaming curse words in open chat all day from losing precious code bits and other crap (my customers included) my friend and I figured it out.

So we went into a vacant building. Which was one really cool thing in MXO, most of the buildings could be entered but they were mostly empty but who cares, you can go in!! So we went in, timed the saving message, and I gave him all my items and code bits and process killed the game. Then came back, and I still had all my ****, and he had what I gave him. After someone walked in on a celebratory gay MMO kiss with 2 dudes standing in a supposedly vacant building, we proceeded to dupe all those freaking pain in the ass code bits that I had to gather and expensive items I crafted so I didn't have to make them again. Then we filled our item boxes, and sent a letter to Lith explaining everything. They fixed it but we got to keep the stuff.

I actually miss that game so every few months I'll go find a trial and log in but it's always barren :( so EVE I will continue to play until New World of Darkness.
