This may have been posted already, but I didn't see a thread anywhere. Has anyone heard of this Pandora thing?

http://openpandora.org/

It's like an improved version of that GP2X handheld. Looks pretty cool to me. Thoughts?

Pretty slim I imagine. Doesn't look like any major devs will be onboard. There's always "homebrew". Blech. Thing is, it looks like it would be awesome for emulation. You could take a bunch of Neo-Geo games with you everywhere you go without having to dodge firmware updates like on a PSP.

Yeah it's the successor to the GP32X, which is the best handheld outside of a PSP. But the Pandora is going to kick all ass, I can't wait until it comes out which should be within the next month or so, I'll be picking one up. There's videos of it running PS1 games as well, if I can get Persona 2 running perfectly on it then YAY (it still won't for PSP).

I want one, seems excellent. Is it made by a group of people or a big company ?

I think it's a company, but the whole design is based on feedback from forum geeks. I dropped a hint with the lady friend so hopefully I can get one for my b'day in August. Shouldn't be long before someone gets the ScummVM working on this thing and I can start playing Monkey Island on the bus.

Yeah, I heard about it about a year ago now. Haven't really followed its development though.
The black model looks much better than the white model that I saw before.
The first time I saw it, it reminded me of the DS.....

Its not the successor to GP2X, it's a wholely european machine financed and created by Evil Dragon, Craig (and probably some others I've forgotten) who are the official european distributers of GP2X.

The pandora was created to address every issue the homebrew and emulation scene had with the GP2X altho alot of people (including me) are still not happy about the way it looks. it is a reasonable size tho which fits the hands good just not sure about the button layout and having that keyboard.
