Is anyone on these forums also a member of the forums at NeoGAF?? i've been reading the forums there for nearly a year and have been waiting for months for my account to get approved, its a great gaming forum I think (of course N4G forums are better though!)

I think many of the people at Neogaf are a bunch of frat boys
with supersized egos gleefully bathing in their drool over their sense of inclusiveness.

Of course, there are some decent and intelligent individuals populating those forums but
it is still overrated. The one major selling point for them being the presence of game developers
who have a certain notoriety. I know many other people who are waiting for their admission
ticket. They will reveal themselves later on in this thread.

definitely agree, a lot of the people on their are arrogant and some are just plain retards, but there's a couple of decent threads every day that I enjoy to read and it would be nice to be able to post there one day as a member

I've been a member there for about a year now.  It's definately tricky to get on.  They're real picky about what email addresses they will accept. My advice is to use your work email if you have one.  For some reason, they accepted it with ease.

I am. To get in is a pain though. You'll have to wait a while. It took me 3 months. One person does the requests all at once.

I went to sign up, but it wouldn't accept my email adress because it thought it was free, like Hotmail or Gmail. Since I never cared anyway, I just left it.

Maybe once N4G forums become massive we will see developers joining our site.

Its allot more of a community here. There its just thousands of people posting and twice as many watching what you say. It can be really creepy seeing something you post there end up on Kotaku. I feel allot more comftorable here.

You've been waiting months? I've been reading them a while too and they seem to have people with lots of insider information, I signed up a few days ago and I'm already in, did it tell you that your account is receiving judgement from a moderator? that's what it told me but just use the username you signed up for and it works fine.

It won't let you post yet though right? they usually create a welcoming thread so you know if you got in or not. Allot of people act like they have insider info but it isn't much better than anywhere else. 99% of false rumors start there.

I doubt it. The reason NeoGAF works is because they have a zero tolerance policy which happens to be super effective.

Exactly but because of that its not viewed as a very personal or welcoming site.

Yep:
Most users ever online was 13,071, 03-01-2008 at 05:57 PM. DrPirate, Cahill, chandoog, Jesus Carbomb, Exar...

And the reason that forum works so well is because they don't accept FREE E-MAILS.

End of story.

My email wasn't even free, but their piece of crap site thinks it is. Then again, there really isn't much incentive to join up anyway. From lurking there, you can see you're not really missing out on much.
