people who like to make up their own minds are picking it up, yes. People who rather be told what they like and don't like aren't picking it up.

Haze will sell well to people who don't look at reviews.

Well here in the UK it has recieved as much advertising as Halo did. Much more than any other game since.

I really wish this effort had gone on a much more worth while game.

Yeah I noticed the same thing at my local Best Buy (Anchorage, AK).  I didn't care for this game at all after playing through the demo, but it's not the worst game out there by a long shot.

I take it as PS3 owners thirsty for something new in the wait for MGS4 to come out.

Haze has been doing well. It outsold Grid.

That's a pretty big generalization.  What if someone was just not looking forward to the game?  What if someone doesn't like the FPS genre?  There are many possibilities.

true, I'll give you that. but the OP seems surprised that there was ONLY 2 copies left. as if no one should be buying it. Sure there are some people who wasn't going to buy it regardless of reviews, but if it lived up to the hype there would be no surprise that there was only 2 copies left. People who don't listen to reviews are still buying it where as people who listened to the reviews probally aren't getting it when they originally intened to. That was the point I was trying to make.

Well I'm sure the game isn't well stocked... but I'm sure people will and have bought it (I did actually ) plus any game sells it's just how much is the question.  Though if Kane & Lynch can go on to sell a million I think any game can sell.

Yes, Haze is selling.. http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=7253

It's already sold 70% of Lairs sales, and its only been out a while now. It has doubled Uncharted on its opening week, and is half of CoD4 / AC sales on opening week.

It sells, PS3 fanbase is larger right now, and Haze is not all that bad, btw.

It's fun to make statements like that, but yeah, not always completely fair. Certainly rationality is not determined by whether you purchase Haze.

It probably should have been something like: "People who like to make up their own minds may pick it up, yes. People who rather be told what they like and don't like a probably won't."

yes and why? four simple reasons:

1) Ubi delayed the review copies big time to stall the horrible reviews
2) Advertising- i've seen tons of TV ads, mag ads, posters and even cardboard cut-outs everywhere
3) Hype, FRD=win, promise of awesome options like 4-player co-op
4) it's a near-future shooter and boy do those sell

There are selling pretty well at my local futureshop.

I don't think the average consumer is gonna read and follow up on scores...or to see if it's selling well...they have lives lol...They don't go "Metacritic says...."

They see a couple of commercials on TV, look at some more ads, go the store, look at the cool cover, read the back...SOLD!!...."It was advertised on TV, Korn wrote a song for it, so it must be good."

Advertising is a powerful thing.

If scores dictated and swayed what people should be buying, then Beyond Good & Evil, Okami, ICO and others would have sold tons.

About 10% of the gaming population is fully aware of review scores.

Haze is not that bad. Its a shooter and has a coop mode. Its really good. I wont buy it cause I only buy must haves for the full price like MGS 4 . But I will pick it up for less money

I played it and liked it more when I was Mantel. Then it became a snoozefest. I got all my money back from that EB promotion.

Well, Kane & Lynch also managed to move a million units. The sad fact is that we live in a crazy world where mediocre games like like Haze and Kane & Lynch sell a lot while likes Psychonauts and Zack & Wiki sell very little even though they are out on most popular systems of their time (PS2 and Wii).

It all depends on what people like.
Despite the reviews i was going to get this game but decided that... it just doesnt compare to MGS4!

But anyways, I compare this to the few times i went against a review...Red Dead Revolver, and the first Area 51 for the ps2. I bought them and they ended up being my favorite games, besides MGS and Socom, and GTA.

Plus i think Haze can be entertaining, even if it isnt the best. Keep people busy until MGS4.
