all weekend my PS3 has been freezing on me. Either while playing Mercs 2 or using the web browser. I'm expecting it to die soon. When it does, it'll be the second time for this ol' 40 gig....so when it does I may move on to a newer model.

eh... i use the browser a bunch.. it freezes up on me a lot, namely when i'm trying to watch videos... naughty videos.  So that shouldnt be a problem.. with mercs maybe so... but the browser isnt the best thing.

i sent mine in Thursday and got it today.

did you get the same one back, or a refurbished one?

i got mine back (same serial number)
but the innards must be different because i have a new MAC address for my WiFi

so i think they replaced the logic board.

my cousin got a 20gb ps3 given to him ok so the problem starts with ufc 09 bought it for my 40gb and well it works fine but once we put it in his ps3 about 10 mins in the game it freezes and red light blinks.

but ratchet and clank works on his ps3 and some ps2 games so i was just wondering anyone know why ufc wont work? why the heck did sony not put in wifi on the 20gb ps3? lol i have no extra internet cable for him to use.

and the ps3 gets very hot very fast i don't know if all ps3s do this but the 3 i have had did not do that. could it be the power cable lol anyways hope someone can help me thanks in advance.

oh yeah really want him to get his ps3 fixed so he can buy ufc 09 and we can play it together online and get ranked for it.

i take good care of my stuff, always have since me was a wee boy. i still have all my old original nintendo controllers and snes and n64 etc etc.  the only thign that did break was my dvd player, it stopped playing but thats cuz i guess i overusedit, i normally go to sleep witha dvd in playing, and it stay s that way all night, so i musta wore it out. besides that, ive been good so far.....oh but my pc does crash often, i dunno why, i loose internet connection too so i gotta keep callin the tech guy to fix it, i hate that i LOATHE that cuz its some opne from another country that answers and pisses the eff out of me.....

My PS3 just crapped out on me. This is the second time it's happened. The first time it just wouldn't read any discs, and this time it won't read any discs or eject them. I got LittleBIG Planet to eject, and then tried to put in other discs to see if it would read them, but it won't take my discs either, it just makes a clicking noise.. I'm gonna call sony soon, but I was gonna see if there's something I myself can do... ): This sucks.

That's really strange.. It fixed itself.. I think I'm still gonna send it in to get fixed though, because it always freezes up on me.

If it's making a clicking noise it's probably a mechanical problem.  That means whatever's wrong would probably take about 2 seconds and cost ¢0.05 to fix, but you'll end up paying $150 if it's out of warranty.  I wouldn't try anything yourself unless you're an electrical engineer or something.  The bluray drive is locked down like a safe in there.  I've taken the whole unit out before, but cracking into it would be a whole different story.

I was playin lbp and then it randomly stops and my ps3 closes.... there is a red light and whenever i turn it on, it starts up normal for like 2 seconds and then it stops and after that the red light keeps blinking....WHAT TE EFF!?! my warranty ran out and i dont know who to contact and i live in the middle east so wtf do i do?!

go search up Sony/PS3 website. Be ready to pay the equivalent of 200 Euro for a repair though and you'll get back someone elses refurbished 2nd hand PS3 with old hardware (bigger chips/gets hotter).

You might just want to invest 400 Euro in a new model though with smaller chips/less chance on YLOD, but bigger chance on BluRay diode dying.

Or you might just want to put in 200 Euro in a 360, the Jasper models are said to be pretty much problem free.

 Turn the PS3 on frmo the console, and continuing holding the power button. It should blink a few times, beep once or twice, and then restart.

If that fails, then yeah, call Sony.

SCEE covers the Middle East, as well? Interesting... But anyway, go buy a new PS3 and recycle the old one! :D

GO AND BUY A new ps3, its not worth going 2 fix it
