I'm on my fourth DS.

First one slipped out of my hand and fell on concrete.

I tripped on the charge cord of my second one in the middle of the night causing it to fall off of the table onto the nearby wood floor.

Third one got ripped in half (not by me).

Although I've had my fourth one for nearly two years, so I think my DS problems are over.

Currently: still never had a console kick the bucket.

If my PC were to 'die,' I'd hope it would be the graphics card -- only because I have a lifetime warranty on that regardless of what abuse/overclocks I put it through.

Maybe after I somehow break this one.

That's a pretty exceptional track record - though I've only seen my parents' Wii die and Adam's first PS2 bit it.

I always tend to go for the pretty reliable hardware I think (by luck, and nothing else). SNES, N64, Xbox, then PS3. I don't know how the SNES is for hardware (too long ago), but the other had far less problems than their competitors of the time methinks. Perhaps this has just worked in my favour.

I kind of wonder what my threshold would be.  One failure is something I could cope with...are we gradually becoming numb to hardware failure? Have I been indoctrinated??

With the levels of OCD that I have, I don't know if I could tolerate hardware failure. I always tend to be pessimistic and assume all of my newly bought things are failing/slowly dying on me, yet, they never do.

I got an Xbox today with four games. Not only are three of the games scracthed up beyond repair, but the Xbox wouldn't even read the one that was spotless.

I'm quite sure that I'm being punished for hating on Microsoft for so long, like MART with his PS3s.

It didn't really break but my Nintendo DS got stolen (house got robbed). along with my games - pokemon diamond with like 300 hours of gameplay was the most important. This was back in Jan 08 i think...I got it on the New Zealand DS release date and it was in mint condition :'(

Insurance replaced it with a Wii so it was all good lol.

My PS3 Died - Thursday, September 03, 2009 3:09 PM
Anyone know of a Service to get it repaired in teh US?  I don't want it to go to Sony because I'll get a refurbed system that will then proceed to erase my hard drive of it's contents upon it's return....

Tman pointed this out to me yesterday.

Looks fairly reputable.  Maybe give them a call and see what they have to say.

Well my 1st fat PS2 broke(Discs stopped reading) but other than that I've been pretty good with all my consoles(NES, Genesis/SNES, N64, Saturn, Dreamcast, XBOX, PS1/2/3). The only ones I still have are my PS1/2/3, XBOX, N64 and my Dreamcast and they all work fine

Thanks Polluted, I will have to give them a call.  Sony's option of give it to us, get charged more and still lose all your stuff.  I really have to get the hard rive operational again.  I can't afford to lose the pictures on there....stupid sony, how do they not have a fail safe for this?

Okay, this is not my PS3, I am doing this on behalf of a user: http://www.n4g.com/up/32255.aspx

Okay here are the details

It was bought October 2007, for just under £400, it is a 60GB model.

He got YLOD Yesterday, and now Sony is asking for £128

This is a crazy amount of money for a lot of people, including me, including him since he doesn't have that kind of money right now

But bottom line I don't think he should have to pay it either.

Can anyone give us any advice? I told him to ring up, kick off, write a letter whatever, anyone? anything that could help.

Thanks, Brit.

Re:Aw no! My 360/PS3/Wii/PC's Broke!! - Thursday, October 15, 2009 3:44 PM
Man I must be the most unluckiest guy in the world. Okay so yesterday I bought Uncharted 2 and popped it into my ps3. The game was amazing for the time I was playing it (got to chapter 4). And literally less than a minute I was about to turn off my ps3 and it turns off by itself. I was like what's going on? so I press the power button to turn it back on to see if it was alright. the light turns green for 2 seconds then turns yellow for 1 second and flashes red making the beeping noise. I could not believe it. The first time in my life a console died on me.

I just want to know can Sony repair it? I have no warranty since my ps3 is the original 80 GB I got when the first Uncharted came out. And since my Uncharted 2 is stuck in my ps3 because it won't allow me to eject it, will they give it back to me. lastly do I get any warranty or guarantee if I send it in  example: I get it back and it breaks within 3 months do I have to pay to get it fixed again or can I send it in for free? and if I send it in can I pay for extended warranty.
Thanks just wanted to check in here first before I call them.
