I have had the pleasure of dealing with the CS side of Nintendo and recently had my Wii fixed up to working order. While I'll have no problem downloading my VC and WiiWare games again I do have one certain problem that goes beyond the mundane of waiting for Mario to collect all those coins while waiting for the game to load.

This is of course all saved data... Yup that Fire Emblem save is gone, Mario Galaxy gone, Zelda gone, Metroid gone, No More Heroes, Okami, Zack & Wiki, and so many many more, even my Mii's are erased, and even worse still is that my 200+ questions and around 80% right on Everybody Votes Channel is no more

On one end I get to play all these wonderful games again in full force maybe even find some new tricks for some old dogs, and while it would be so easy for me to blame Nintendo for my saves being no more I can only really blame myself

Back when Wii was launched they made word of this fancy SD card slot and I bought into that and grabbed myself a Wii certified SD card and had it in there at all times. All I needed to do was to back up those saves every once in a while but what did I end up doing? You guessed it absolutely nothing... well I did put my VC games in there when I needed room on the Wii but even then I didn't say 'hey why not throw in those game saves.'

So if you have a Wii and you bought a SD card why not just for the sake of doing throw in those game saves you have accumulated it just might end up saving you some re-gaming time... unless you don't mind

I would turn it on and my TV would switch from my no signal Blue Screen to plain old Black Screen. So it was getting the signal but it just wasn't outputting the signal. I tried switching the cords from component to composite and still the same deal. Not sure what the end problem was but I couldn't play it and they needed to wipe the insides clean

That sucks man, I'd hate to lose my saves. I have like 45 game saves that I'd like to keep, including my vc games. I hope you regain what you lost, make that a goal!

well i dont have an sd card( i should proly get one)
but they have sd save games online......you connect your sd card to your comp and it saves data to your card.......that way you dont have to beat the games again and youll have 100% completion in the games you want....
its cheating but if you already beat the game then its a fast alternative.
i think its called the wii exploder...not sure though.

Hmm well as easy as that sounds I don't think I could bring myself to do it. I was going to do that with GT5 Prologue so I could have all cars and Class S but I ended up just staying with the Class A I was stuck on.

Playing games I beat or got a lot of play time on isn't the worst thing seeing as I enjoyed playing them and will enjoying giving them a second round and now that Nintendo says the Wii could be using the SD slot you might as well snag a SD card in due time.

It is no solution,

IF: your Wii memory is full it will download stuff to your SD card....nice right?
Not really; You still need switch between game channels, meaning you have to swap one to your SD card and the one on your SD card to your Wii in order to play it.
This...is still the same problem.

just without deleting your files and re-downloading them later( if you want to play them again).

SAme sh/t less clunky and this is what i don't like about this so called " solution ".

As for saving backups, any game with Online settings can't be saved on a SD card. >_<....those save files are protected.

Hehe, with the sd cards it doesn't seem too bad...all they have to do to make it compatible with SDHC so we can put 4gb or more is a firmware update from when I was reading an article on wikipedia...so we could be looking up to 32gb total...it's not like we use much anyways.

My problem with this is...That DLC ( like level packages) are still something considered " non " existing.
If they unlocked the SD to it's full potential, Developers would consider to give more DLC because the Wii would be more flexible with memory.

DLC on a larger scale would be great on the Wii, the conduit could have benefit from this.

It is a solution if we can play from the sd card directly but Nintendo hasnt answered whether we can do that or not.
All they have said is we can download directly to the sd card.......thats not much of a description on how it works to me.
And im not for dlc put what your gonna do in the game.Dont short change me.
Megaman 9 could have had all the dlc unlockable stuff if you completed the achievements or something of that nature.
Make stuff unlockable through achievements not through money.

I actually don't like the idea of DLC for retail games, seems like another way to siphon money from the consumer, because they couldn't bring it out on time. The only thing I see it good for is fixing glitches in-game.

I would rather have them add in some new stuff they couldn't put in the original retail game because they were pressed for time. Rather than them updating the game with a patch. If you need to fix a broken game after it's gone gold you shouldn't have made it gold and therefore shouldn't need to update it through a patch

Hopefully they will allow the Wii to read off the SD card because it would be a sour thing if it is only for direct downloading and nothing else. That helps nothing.

THey have product, its clearly said by iwata:

" you will be able to purchase and download Virtual Console and WiiWare software directly from the Shopping Channel to an SD memory card. We will also make it so that you will need to go through just one process in order to transfer Virtual Console or WiiWare software stored on an SD card to the Wii console and then be able to play it."

In other words, you need to swap files inorder to play them.

Come on people its clearly in those lines!
This is not a solution this is the same BC >_<

Anyway, like i said before XD backing up your save files can only be done for non-online games.
