Braid on PSN next week but...
-
Thursday, November 05, 2009 3:24 AM
...$15? Is this a joke? Have they even confirmed any exclusive PSN features I should know about? Not only are they releasing this on Modern Warfare 2 week but they're charging $15 for a year old, 2D platformer. So again I ask, have they announced any new content?

Its Braid, its well worth 15 dollars, regardless that its a year old, be happy you get to play it.

Well worth $15 when you have games like WipEout HD and Burnout Paradise on the PlayStation Store for the same price and they offer WAY more replayability + platinum trophies? I'll skip the PSN release if I could just buy it on Steam for cheaper and still get the same experience. They're charging way too much for this. Anything over $10 is just wrong.

How much does it cost on Steam now? I bought it a couple month's ago off Steam for $15.

Just get the steam version then... problem solved. But for people who don't have access to the other versions(for whatever reason) it's well worth it and why should it cost less because it's a 2D platformer?

I think he is implying it should cost less because it is a year old port, with no additional content, not because it is a 2D platformer.

Well to address that. It wouldn't be fair to the 360 and PC owners of the game if you got exclusive content and also it's slightly unfair for you to get it at a lower price, especially considering you wouldn't be getting it if it wasn't for the people who bought it at $15 and supported the game. The fact that it's going on the PSN at all should be good enough, especially considering the immense quality of the game.

I was excited to hear this game coming to ps3 but there is also Trine for $5 more. Has anyone played both? Which one would you recommend?

I thought Braid was exceptional, well worth buying, more so than Trine imo. Trine is an okay game but Braid has a lot more variety and originality in its gameplay. So yeah, I'd buy Braid if I were you.

Braid's OK, but it's not even worth $15. $10 would be closer to what it should be. It's a decent game, but it's not "OMFG AMAZONG!" people always claim. It's a 2D platformer with time manipulation puzzle solving. Apart from the art style, hardly the most innovative game ever.

PirateThom is actually very wrong here as it is a very innovative game, it is centered around the puzzle aspect as opposed to being a platformer with a puzzle element. And the way the time manipulation is used is different to any game out there.

The weird thing one of them was named Ultramarine.

Um... don't buy it and wait until they drop the price. I'm betting the sales won't be that high for the PS3 version but they're obviously going to try and get the most money out of it as possible. Speak with your wallet. The only thing that works.

Damn didn't we have this same discussion last year? Braid is more than worth $15. If you like puzzle games then you need to buy it. Experiences like this don't get released that often and unless you already mastered it on PC or 360 I would highly recommend checking it out. Great game and I am happy PSN owners finally have a chance to play it.

I played the demo on xbl and decided not to get it, so I doubt I'll be paying $15 for it on PSN. Jamescagney I thought Braid was exceptional, well worth buying, more so than Trine imo. Trine is an okay game but Braid has a lot more variety and originality in its gameplay. So yeah, I'd buy Braid if I were you. Really? I though Trine was great fun, though that was a review copy so I never had to make the $15 decision.
