I decided to give the game a try. I never played any of the previous games. DMC4 is superb. The graphics are great. The story is fantastic and it's the first game where I look forward to the cut scenes. They really help set up the story. The fighting is really good.

Anyone else really like the game?

i really like it. alot. and i'm like you, it's my first DMC i've ever played.

I think God of War spoilt me. There are certain things i have come to expect in such a game and one big one is no load times. Uncharted, Heavenly sword and a lot of other games found ways around this but even with a 5GB install DMC4 could not. The load times were extremely annoying especially since i had to go back a lot. The game was essentially to irritating to finish. Graphics were ok but the shadows looked like crap dissapearing enemies is last gen in my eyes even though they are demons we should have a trace of them on the floor. Long story short i have played DMC2, 3 and 4 and ALL were underwhelming.

Compared to DMC1 and DMC3. DMC4 is total bullcrap.

Its like comparing Doom 3 to Half Life

Wow you found 3 underwhelming? That's a first, maybe DMC isn't your thing. Personally I think 3 is the greatest action game to come out in the last 2 generations from combat alone (SLIGHTLY beating ZOE2). 4 had everything it needed to dethrone 3 but Capcom got lazy (YES they did) and screwed the pooch on the Dante sections.

DMC4 is a great game, stop bashing it. There are WAY MORE WORSE games out there.

I didn't play 3 much. For me the problem with DMC is the lame story. Yea i slash and shoot zombies in every section but why? The game absoluetely fails in generating momentum for me to advance to the next section. After a while i just walk away and never look back. I don't play that many hack and slash games but over all GOW > Ninja Gaiden > DMC4.

Hahaha what you said is the same reason I never finish a NG game, which is odd that you'd place it over DMC4 considering DMC4 had a pretty badass story which was one of the things it did better than 3 which already had a better story than NG/B/S.

DMC4 is a freaking excellent game

the combat system is really enjoyable and varied, the story is quite engaging, the cut-scenes are gorgeus as ever and the bosses are good too (although it sucks that you have to fight most of them 3 times)

it also provides a lot of value as you'll want to spend some time unlocking the extra moves and difficulty settings

NG story sucks ballz but the combat system rules all. DMC definitely surpasses gaiden in terms of story but at the same time the DMC story is a little silly. The cut scenes look good but they are all silly. I stopped playing after the plant boss. At that point i had simply lost all motivation. I would place heavenly sword over DMC4 but i wouldn't place it over NG

NG Story is the lamest story i ever played.

Also people say combat is so good in NG. You pass all game using same 3 combos and HM using On Land Charge only.

Well when i play GOW i usually just do square square triangle and that doesn't stop it from being a great fighting system. I still think NG has the best fighting system and i don't think its even close.The quickness the throw weapons the blocking countering dodging everything is there. NG2 is going to pwn.

to me game got last gen game engine still basicly same moves with few new animations
Dante isn't the lead man in this one plus the story is really dumb this time DMC 3 was way better overall the DMC4

Capcom is turn DMC4 add roster game like DMC2 but you choose which person u want to play with

Better graphics above average gameplay below average story 8/10 for me

i borrow my cousin im glad i didn't spend 65 dollars on this game 30 is better for this game

Nero's a beast man, and Dante is nothing to sneeze at either now that you can use all styles and weapons simultaneously. I've seen and have pulled off some awesome stuff in DMC4, I remember the days when people here kept trying to say that snatch jump cancelling was a glitch in the demo. The story actually kept me intrigued as much as 3's did, if not more just so I could see the story behind Nero.

The only weak part was missions 13-16, even though you're playing Dante I didn't fancy revisiting EVERYTHING again for the sake of the storyline. 3/SE set the bar really high for the series and action games in general considering the only game that can touch the depth of the advanced combat mechanics is 4 and even still it's missing some things from 3. I just wish Capcom put a bit more into the game, because it shows in the areas where they didn't. Here's hoping for DMC5.

NERO to me is a gimick for newbies his hand made the game way to easy to beat it actual take skill use Dante please if you true DMC fan you should notice that

DMC4 is a fun, pretty good game. It should be left at that.

When compared to predecessors it pales, though.

I agree that the load times are long but IMHO the game is really good. The graphics are suberb. I just beat the first boss in the game.

DMC4 is one of the few games I still play even though I have 1,000 achievement points in it.

I actually really loved DMC4. The story, the characters (Nero is freakin awesome) and over all fun. I know some areas could have been polished but I still play it alot.
