It sounds good, but think about it. Microsoft lost the HD vs. Blu-ray war, who cares where going digital.
In the future we will have no need for disk. As hard drive become smaller and more affordable, you will be able to download all you games and movies. Good idea, but what if I don’t want the game anymore and need cash. ”you have to keep it.” Not only that but the confusing MS point to cash ratio, and how long it would take to download a game. If they do hope they use bit torrent.

Yeah, and how you going to back up all that stuff?

Blu-ray disks are finally something that is built to endure scratches. I like that ingenuity about the thing. I wish the same may be said for current DVDs.

I will still use Disks as it provides a solid mobile method of data transfer. I don't want to be carrying around a bunch of USB keys or having to wait for something to download again.

You're quite short sighted in your arguments.

Physical media will always have a place but I don't mind digital seeing that you can store a lot in a little space and network it to many areas.

digital can work again it self if blu ray disks increase size to 300 to 500 GB a disk for cheap

if this happens disk be just as good as a Hard drive

This Digital media vs. Physical media thing is ridiculous. There is no competition between the two, and people who think otherwise are just spoiling for a fight.

The only question is whether or not DDL is going to take off to the point that it becomes a fully viable alternative to physical media, not whether one will beat the other. To think that's the case is a little bit stupid.

I agree they can both do well and don't have to fight each other for profit

Exactly, they co-exist as an alternative for one another, as they both offer essentialy the same end product, the consumer just gamins acess to the content in a different way.

I'm an old fashion kinda guy so I prefer the old fashioned physical media, I just have to touch it to feel satisfied. (Don't take it the wrong way now)

Anyway who's to say what's going to happen in the near or distant future? Probably our sons (or daughters) or our or our sons sons (or daughters) will grow up to prefer digital more than physical, but I personally believe that even though physical is dominant now, digital will be the future. (Even though I doubt that physical will ever disappear for some time)

"What's a CD?"

you make an excellent point, one which i havent even been thinking about.....

however, its not as simple as using earbuds to watch movies or play games, also we settle for less quality of music than video...

dont get me wrong, im not for it, but technically we cannot rule it out, who knows what will come in the future!

I think Blu ray/DVD will just follow the CD and become only something to collect and for the hardcore fans. I love watching movies and listening to music.

The last DVD I bought...Lost Season 3 (if that counts lol). The last CD I bought....Minutes to Midnight and before that..the last Sum 41 CD from like 5 years ago.

With technology all around going no where but up I find it inevitable for DD to take over

They're not even bloody competing, darn you!

Of course, I'm just a disgruntled Blu-Ray fanboy feverishly defending his favourite format...

Yeah, it'd be wrong of me to criticise Mr Kuwabara, considering my tendency to... well, you know the rest already, snoop. However, I only do it to break world records... Mr Kuwabara, on the other hand, does it for pleasure.

Digital
v  Faster load time (in game)
v  Low cost distribution
v  No re-sale (good for publisher)
v  Easier to track(Bootleggers)
v  Easier to encrypt
v  P2P Distribution
v  Easy debugging
Disk
·         High Disk space(higher cost)
·         Bootleggers(loss to publisher)
·         GameStop (GTA IV 30 trade N)
·         Next Week ( 20 bucks) Money loss for the publisher(store Credit )
·         Disk compression (longer load time)
·         We don’t want to eff up like we did HD.$200 (next day $50)

§  Microsoft wants to be the 1st ones to do it. Memory is only going to get bigger in capacity and smaller in size. And with a wireless gigabit connection inside the system, transfer is no problem. check out the sites below.

To be honest, don't Sony have a better chance of taking advantage of DDL in the future anyway? I mean, Sony's hardware just outright owns Microsoft's over and over.

Disks will always win in the long run.  If I want to watch a movie at a friend's house, I dont want to lug around my hard drive or my digital entertainment system.  Digital Downloads can easily be deleted where as you can have a disk forever.
