I believe the Wii trend will die down maybe in 2009 or 2010 giving the PS3 time to catch up.

Now I wouldn't say that, the future is bright for PS3 owners. The major exclusives haven't even been release yet, case in point, God of War III, Final Fantasy XIII, and Gran Turismo 5. Of course there are more, but you get the point.

Well really it is going to be the thing to get this christmas yet again and if it does indeed go on to be a big seller all of 09 as well it doesn't really matter if a few years later PS3 comes along it'll be to little to late.  Heck Nintendo basically won already in terms of stature.  It doesn't even have to sell another console right now and it'll still have this wave of success to carry them on down the way.

I think it'll keep on selling for sure.  It's has the games and is getting the games so what's not to like.

No this is retarded. Wii is not a fad. This is not 2006. Year of PS3 is not now, 2009, 2016, or what have you. Nor is this Wii or 360s year. Everyone has bias. But Wii will still be selling more than both combined. Anyway who says that Wii users will graduate up fails to see that Wii has different values than the other 2. If they wanted a PS3/360 they would have bought one from the start.

Wii is more Arcade like/Pick up and play where PS3/360 are more story driven epics. There are obvious exceptions but thats in general. No one way is better. Its best to have all three to have all the different experiences.

Main Page is that way ----->

And please stay in the open zone

Can you imagine if the Wii won the console war? The gaming industry will be taking a step back instead of forward.

You have stereotypes and nothing more for your argument. Tell all your friends to stop making the great migration to the forums your not wanted.

I have to disagree with that statement. The pricing of the PS3 and 360 play a role in the Wii success.

You think in to much of a western mind set. Price is only one factor and a small one at that.

People buy Ipods for $400 despite the fact the Zune is $300 and has more features.

If more people Valued the PS3/360 features price wouldn't be a problem.

You feel also to remember the events that have happened before. The Saturn had its prices slashed repeatedly but it still undersold the N64/PS1. Same for the Dreamcast/Gamecube/Xbox.

Software > Hardware = Sales

I agree bama it is not a fad nor a gimmick.  If we would go that far (seeing that I'm asking I will ) then why not say the PS1 was a fad seeing that no one buys it anymore?  PS2 is dwindling down in sales does that mean that fad is over as well?  Still haven't seen all those 1080p games in droves so are we going to be done talking of that gimmick?  Last time I check these trophies or gamerscore does nothing for you so that in it's own way is a gimmick to get you to play the game.

I went off on a rant but you see all negatives you can say for one console you can do the same for the others   Having all 3 is the best way plus then you can see it from all perspectives!

Also no gaming would not take a step backwards.  Going backwards is making the same game that plays the same way but looks better.

Just wait now he's going to come in and say that software sales in Japan are low because FFXII hasn't been released yet.

It is currently selling at a faster rate than the PS2 did, with the PS3 selling at the same rate as the PS2.

I wholeheartedly disagree with that statement.  The Wii has allowed developers to make games that could have never been possible on any other platform and because of that, the Wii is already moving the industry forward.  It has also shown how we can improve existing game genres.  I have a great time playing COD4 on my PS3 but I dream and drool about how much better the game would be if I could use a Wii remote instead of a d-pad after having played and beaten Metroid Prime 3.

If I only looked at hardware specs, then I might also conclude that the Wii's success would indicate a step back in the industry but honestly, the consoles w/ the most advanced hardware specs rarely see the most success in their respective generations and yet the gaming industry has been constantly reaching new heights.

PS3 is selling much better than PS2 in Europe due to no bad circumstances (Paris Riots, Shortages etc.), much worse in Japan, and about half as much in the U.S.

the big question will be if PS3 stays on Track with PS2 during the coming Christmas season. I think thats when GT3 and some other big guns came out for the PS2. PS2 was selling better than average Wii levels.

Chill, I have no problem with the Wii winning the console as I for one will be picking one up at some point. I was just asking for opinions as to what other gamers think about the Wii success.

I haven't seen any innovations in any of the games for the 360 or PS3 asides from the pretty graphics.

I think its due to the fact that Arcades have dwindled in popularity although the demand hasn't gone away for them. The Wii has the same values as Arcades and therefor the demand for Arcades was filled by the Wii.

I mean look at the popular games on the Wii: light gun, arcade like sports (upcoming EA sports line is based on NFL Blitz), platformers (2d and 3d), rhythm games. Almost all of them are pick and play and less demanding. All the upcoming games are like this too. Its not bad its just different and a more social experience.

That's what I meant when I said the gaming industry will be taking a step backward. Maybe I should've been more clear.
