I really want to know from people here, does this game make you sweat?  Like... do you feel the burn the next day after playing it... or does it feel like it isn't doing anything for your body?  I think this would be a great, fun way to work out... but i'm not sure if the activities they have would qualify as a workout.  I'm hoping they put out another wii fit game, made for adults in mind that really try to push your body to lose weight/build muscle.

Granted, I know a video game doesn't replace a gym... but I really find it hard to bring myself to go to the gym.  That's why when I do work out, it's on the carpet infront of my TV, either watching a movie or listening to music.

So basically... is wii fit worth the price, or should I hold out and hope for a wii fit 2, or some random knock off that doesn't involve yoga?  :P

If you want to work out, get a bowflex

If I had $1000+ to throw at equipment I might end up getting bored with, I would have bought wii fit without making this thread...

Anyone else want to try?

It's not that it's a bad idea but if seniors can do it how much of a workout is it really? It's probably more of a gimmick to sell the Wii than an actual quality workout.

It looks pretty cool, and I wouldn't mind getting into shape, but I don't think I'm throwing down $89.99 on it.

Like everyone else who has responded in this thread so far, I have not played it and therefore cannot give you any useful input about the game per se.  As a side note tho, if you want to focus on aerobic activity, EA is currently developing an exercise game that focuses more on cardio than WiiFit.  WiiFit focuses more on overall fitness - balance, flexibility, strength, etc.  Obviously, strength training induces sweating but I think cardio might be the better answer if you're looking to sweat.  WiiFit does have cardio activities I believe but again, I cannot comment one way or another about them.  Sorry.

EL SALVADOR:  Like any workout, it's what you put into it that determines its effectiveness.  I can do 20 standard pushups easily but it's a completely different story if I take 10 seconds to do the positive phase and 10 seconds to do the negative phase of each pushup.  Obviously senior citizens can play WiiFit but that doesn't mean WiiFit isn't much of a workout to an obese 18-yr old.

So basically I can buy two heavy soup cans and weightlift with them. Or buy a piece of rope and skip rope with it. Makes sense and makes the Wii Fit all the more redundant.

You could also have fun playing videogames on a SNES instead of a PS3, 360, or Wii.  Get my point?

It's obvious you do not like WiiFit, I just don't understand why you went out of your way to make a negative post about it in a thread in which the OP is simply asking for advice/suggestions about the game.  WiiFit doesn't appeal to me either but I don't go around telling ppl that it's "probably" a gimmick.

Sure you can. Everyone's free to do what they want.

There are ways to get amazing workouts using nothing but your own body. Pretty much makes every sort of exercise equipment redundant. Still, some people may want something different.

As to your previous comment, the vast majority of effective exercises can be done by anyone... even a young child. Weight, speed, intensity, etc. are what will separate a adult in their prime/athlete from everyone else.

Some people have no lives. To EL SALVADOR, I hope that you feel good now that you got that off your shoulders.  It's okay, we know you don't like it.  *gives a box of tissues*

Anyways, I figure I'm going to buy wii fit when all the craziness ends...I can't get to a store like I used to because I work 8 hours a day now.

Being a person that goes to the gym I don't see the wiifit doing much except toning up what you have.  Depending on what your trying to do though the wiifit could give decent results for somebody that doesn't get much exersice.  if you can keep your heartbeat around 129 thats optimium for fat burning anything else is overkill and just tires you quicker.  Now depending on fitness level the the amount of work to get to a hb around 129 is different.  A fit person might need to bike at 12 mph for 3 miles to achieve results while an unfit person can get to that range by lifting light weights or swimming.
The wiifit is a great intro to the future of training and rehabing injuries.  The hardest thing to do when starting to workout is staying motivated.  The wiifit makes it so you don't feel like your working out you, know like when you played as a kid.

Well there you have it, THATS WHAT WII-FIT is for.
it was never meant to make you look like a stick.
its meant to be aware of your health and weight....it could even motivate people to the gym

The games in it are kind of fun and mix of good and bad ones.  You can look at the games as Super Monkey Ball were as some are awesome and some just aren't.  If you've seen the ads for it the soccer ball one you don't really need to shift your weight you can just lift up your left or right foot to do the deed.  While other times you have yourself guilding balls to a hole to drop down to the next stage and you are the joystick which is really cool.  Yoga stuff is neat and the gets you going and arobic stuff is light hearted.

Basically you get out of it what you put into it... like anything else.  Just like if you you pump paint cans vs iron you get the same thing while if you do it.  Like a few have said it's more like toning then anything and like Nintendo themselves have said many times already it's more about getting you to think more about working out.

WiiFit can be used as is and I'm sure many people will get it's use out of it and will probably meet their goals of taking away some pounds, but it's not going to be because they sit around and do nothing all day till they turn on the game and you're dumb to think that.  I see it more of a training tool to get us use to the balance board for some more games

I'm a gymn member and I must admit plodding away on a treadmill for any length of time bores the hell out of me and it gets to the point that I dread going to tge gymn because of it. So, if Nintendo can make exercise fun in some way then I am all for it. Perhaps a few gymns out there could stock WiiFit and perhaps I would be more tempted to go.

So, I have ordered WiiFit but it appears nowhere in the UK has it.
