Just wondered what your thoughts on Doom 4 were, I am a huge fan of the PC franchise but will def pick this up for PS3.  I have heard it is based on Earth, wonder what locations they will set the game in and will it still include Hell locations. ?

I just hope they dish everything from disappointing Doom 3 and go back to roots of original Doom which was a pure adrenaline rush with crazy level design, many MANY enemies and huge action scenes along with many awesome weapons.

boo on you MK   Doom 3 was awesome

I like it as a creepy horror title.  Maybe they can get that happy medium with high octane parts and creepy crawly parts.  and a harder end boss...

As long as it's not dark as ever and not a tactical shooter. As long as it's not the same formula from Doom 3 then it'll be alright. It was tiring to pick up ammo and then have to waste it all on the hoard of zombies that wanted the ammo too.

I wouldn't be surprised if DOOM4 isn't coming out for PS3/360 the new engine uses some crazy things like megatextures and I think even voxels so we're talking like better than Crysis graphics and probably some pretty amazing gameplay elements. While I'm pretty sure Carmack would like to do cross platform, he'll probably do something like with DOOM3 (which in response to MK_Red was actually a remake of the original DOOM) where they created the graphically and gameplay superior on the PC and dumbed it down and ported it to the original XBOX so thats probably all you can hope for a port, ah it's good to own a top of the line PC.

I hope the co-op is added in again...I had tonnes of fun in co-op

I was gonna say add more NPC's in the game...but i guess that what they were going for right? To make you feel alone and isolated.

I agree it needs a better final boss.

change the setting a little bit, instead of it all being labs and bases....maybe chase a couple of demons in town to stop them from opening up a portal as part of a mission

Get rid of the predictable "grab armor & weapons only to have random doors filled with demons and zombies to come at you"

what was the point of picking up armor and health when piles of enemies just take all away again? When ever I see weapons or health, I'm like "Oh, time to fight my way out of ambush"

I loved Doom 3, I can't wait for Doom 4, man I tottally want to play Doom 3 again even more now, I was just talking with my homies last night about how much doom 3 ROCKED MY FACE OFF... especially when playing it with like some great rock music with a high tempo and your chargin through the game like a complete badass as an imp pops out of no where and jumps at your face, you up and put him down with your shotgun before he can even touch you then move onto the next little bugger. Man that was such a wicked game, although yeah the boss fights left much to be desired.

It was remake only in settings and story. Gameplay, level design and overall themes were completely changed. Doom 3 had no real action, few enemies attacking together. The keycard hunting was the only other similarity.

Also, Doom 3 sucked and anyone who has played Doom 1 and 2 to death knows how Doom 3 was just graphics. (At least, IMO )

Doom 1 and 2 were revolutionary, but are quite bland by today's standards, and now, so is Doom3.

I'm down for all the spooky factor, but I'm glad it's going to be on earth, to make it more diverse and not stuck in research labs.

The repitition and bland story is what needs to be improved on as well as a suit mounted flashlight for chrissakes.

I don't understand what people are talking about the game being too "dark" I had no problem seeing the enemies or working my way through things. I mean there are computers, servers and all kinds of small lights plastered along the walls, it is pretty easy to see creatures moving in front of them, plus even with a shoddy sound system it is easy to figure something is close by.

Well, Doom 2 wasn't really revolutionary it was more just ID wanting even more money, Doom 3 didn't suck at all in my opinion it had a pretty good atmosphere, it set the bar for graphics, you could always dl the flashlight mod if you wanted to always have a flashlight, but all and all Doom 3 was just trying to modernize doom, because lets face it doom would not translate well today (well, maybe just look at serious sam) but Doom 4 should hopefully bring about another revolution in graphics, game design and atmosphere, well it's certainly at the top of my watch list, let's hope I don't kicked in the nuts like I do with most legendary sequels, heres hoping that Fallout 3, Doom 4, Duke Forever, Deus Ex 3, and System Shock 3 rock and are no way dumbed down and I will change my sig from the horror, to teh awesomeness

Doom and Doom 3 were great, I enjoyed them all. I don't know which direction Doom 4 is going, monster closets or monster rush but either way I'm excited. Forget about Doom 4 being multiplat at release, by the time this game hit the streets in about a year or two the PS3 and 360 will be obsolete. Expect uber resolution textures that is beyond the ability of this gen's consoles.

It will be interesting to see if they use there new "Tech 5" engine. Is there any information on the internet if they are using this engine for the game.

Doom should only come out for the PC, we gave it birth, we should be the ones to let continue to live

Doom, before the Fatal Frame series, was the first game to truly scare the **** out of me.  Sure, it's bland by today's standards, but I still believe that the music and sound effects are still creepy as hell.
