omg another thread

but seriously  I'm sure everyone here knows what the ps3 is capable of (insert mgs4 here)
my question is that, since our initial belief was that a top notch AAA developer (SE) was making a game for teh ps3, we would see something incredible. something that couldnt be done on any other system.   well we know how that went,

So since its now coming to the 360 anyone feel that the game may not take full advantage of the ps3's capabilitys? will it recieve the same treatment as DMC4? SE has stated there will be no sixaxis support, so its fair to believe they will be making a game that supports boths sytems capabilitys. matter o factly the only thing anyones worried about is movie and audio compression.

anyone still feel the same? day one purchase? wait and see? or changed thier mind altogether?

im still hyped.

I'm still getting it but it will linger in the back of my mind about the taking advantage of the system deal. I don't care what anyone says or who tries to tell me otherwise, DMC4 was gimped and I'm still inclined to believe it was because of DVD space and lazy development (and yes I'm a hardcore DMC fan). Fortunately that aspect won't mean much since it's a given that FFXIII will ship on multiple DVDs versus one BluRay but that BR disc better damn well be crammed.

I´m going to wait and see. If it turns out good then I will buy it regardless of the fact that it is multiplatform, I hope that they don´t gimp it due to DVD size.

It seems to me that the actual capabilities of both systems is pretty much indiscernable. Closer than we've ever seen it in previous generations. So I don't think anything's getting dumbed down in FFXIII just because it's going multi-plat. Storage may be an issue or the 360, but that won't affect the PS3 version. Also, remember they've been working on the PS3 version for some time now. They aren't going to go back and like "dumb down" their game just so they can port it. They said they'd complete the Japanese version before they even start porting to the 360.

Fanboyism seems to be much less of a problem when the difference between the systems is more defined than it is this generation. Back in the day the SNES was better looking then the Genesis. It was generally accepted, even by Genesis owners like myself and it was rarely brought up because it was a pointless argument. the last Xbox was more powerful than the PS2. We all knew it was more powerful and frankly, none of us really cared. The games were the focus. Now we've got these two systems that are really close as ar as what they're capable of and it's causing a fanboy explosion like I've never seen in 20 some years of gaming. It's a little embarrassing sometimes to be a part of the gaming scene lately.

I was always going to get Final Fantasy 13 and even though it isn't exclusive I am still going to get it.

Still gonna get it day one and I don't believe they will gimp it at all.  Plus even if they do we being not the developers of the game will never know it was.

No you just assume it was.  Did you play the game before it was announced PS3/360?  If not you have no real way of knowing unless the developer said 'Well it was much harder of a game when it was just on PS3'  you know

I'll still be getting this and Versus. I don't think that they'll dumb it down for the PS3 version at all, they'll still use PS3-specific development. The port will definitely be a little bit worse (it's a port after all), but will be just about the same. Nothing to complain about.

uh huh..ya sure....im a dmc whore. 1,2,and 3....still own em...dont own #4 though...played it, realized it wasn't the glorious experience it was supposed to be, and sold it.

trust me..the 360 sales lead is the reason dmc4 was multi plat.and with no sixaxis features included almost ps2 graphics like. this game underwhelmed. the development started on a pc, then was ported to both consoles...but this game was never announced for the 360 early on, you do the math

I am not one of those idiots who don't buy a game when something like this happens. I still bought DMC and I don't think they made many technical sacrifices to put it on both consoles.

They've said that the PS3 version will be completed first. Having said that, I'd say that they'll optimize it for the PS3 first and foremost, and then go from there.

That aside, I'll be purchasing this day one. Partially because I know it's gonna be awesome, and partially because (like ALL sole PS3 owners) I'm RPG-starved.

Nah, I didn't hype the game before and I'm not hyping it now.
If I do get it, it probably won't be on release.

Didn't they say something about the 360 version going to be multiple discs?

Something tells me this will be better off on the PS3 anyway.

Actually, the more I think about it, the more I think this could actually work in Sony's favor, since we'll be seeing the very first multiplatform game with the PS3 being the lead console for development unless there was one I'm not knowledgeable about (until now, the 360 was the lead one for many games, such as GTA4). Here, Sony could have it be multiplatform and then tell everyone that Sony has the best versions of the multiplatform games. That way, everyone will want a PS3 for games like DMC4 and that, regardless of further quality.

Basically, this strategy could backfire on MS.

Agreed. While im not a big final fantasy fan if its a great game im not gonna give it a pass(unless i cant afford to get it or something)

I will probably get it on the PS3, but even if i got it on the 360 i wouldn't really care about the multiple disks. Maybe it wont be as good as its supposed to be, but if its a really great game, and the not as graphically powerful, i dont really care then lol. I liek great graphics and think there should be a standard, but its not everything. The only time i would care is if they took massive shortcuts in the graphics department, but even then, if the game is really good, no biggie, unless its gameplay or story which i doubt.

...maybe the 360 version can have more masculine characters...joking of course

If that is what happens then I will be totally fine. The problems I have is an exclusive gone multiplat and shifting to co-development. Because, the PS3 version will have to be compromised some way even if optimized to the limit. Co-development makes it very difficult to create a complete technical masterpiece for both consoles.

Whereas, if they just use Crystal Tools or whatever and finish/optimize the PS3 version, then go on to 360 from there, it's almost as if the 360 version's announcement has no affect on the PS3 version's development. In which case, there is nothing to complain about. (Unless you're a tool.)
