Looking at this pic it reminds me of the conversation I had the other day regarding art from users in DeviantArt and the line between people with artistic skills and people that only know how to use photoshop (to paint) well...the thing turned bloody when without knowing we ended up blasting one of the pieces of "art" which ended up bing of one of the guys in the in the conversation...he only told us it was his at the end

my hats are off to all these artists they got skillz.    I seen some more good deviants around but I did not add to fav's I collect another batch over time and blow another load in this thread another time.

is my favorite  ,   * spoiler* pervy Tifa 18+ only  ->   http://dkstudios05.deviantart.com/art/Tifa-color-COLLAB2-90495934

No fan art thread is respectable till it has a link to the Don Mega ....Monty Oum vids.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9sYixr2miY&feature=PlayList&p=3FE26329D8AFCD76&index=0&playnext=1

From the ones that you posted at least 80% had "real" "artistic skills" the other ones were people with only Photoshop painting "skills" to back them up  ...which was one of the thing my art teacher hated and always ranted about -_-

yah ps can make things alot easier , I still got love for those who can't sketch , doodle and paint on paper though.  I just admire the end result im not an art major or anything though.

Theres that poser art to made with poser and alot of it is cheesy since pieces are bought and sold and used or whatever those that make original items with maya or whatever got mad skillz too.  The machine does alot of the work though no doubt. Still its time intensive too.

I think with PS you can go both ways for example some of the master piece you posted that were painted in photoshop its obvious the artist despite using photoshop spent hours and hours to achieve "teh awesome" but some of the others ones are using the classic photoshop quick result techniques and effects they teach you in one of those "learn to color with photoshop in 15 min tutorials" which I am personally not very fond of since it many times teaches you how to cheat and to "fake" your way into looking like you busted you balls like some the other people with actual artistic skills (yet you cant really hide the fact that you cant draw) cuz there is always the case of someone that might want to look good and its learning its way there and the other people that want to look good and be "teh pro" without much effort

But I guess the brutality of how and what I was thought during art school made me slightly overcritical regarding this
