Mike Tyson Ready for Fight Night Round 4
EA steps back into the ring in hopes of scoring a knockout.
May 7, 2008 - EA revolutionized boxing games with Fight Night. Not wanting to let a good thing rest for too long, EA is stepping back into the ring, announcing Fight Night Round 4 for PS3 and Xbox 360. Though Round 4 won't be hitting store shelves until 2009, EA is starting the hype train early.

"The EA Sports Fight Night franchise has always been synonymous with quality and innovation that raised the bar for the sports videogame genre," said Kevin Wilkinson, Executive Producer, EA Sports. "EA Sports Fight Night Round 3 was a platform defining game as the industry transitioned to next generation consoles. EA Sports Fight Night Round 4 will change how boxing games are played and measured in the future."

Developed by EA Canada, Fight Night Round 4 promises that "no fight will be the same." Along with adding more fighting styles, Round 4 features a new physics-based animation system that allows for more realistic-looking missed punches, glancing blows and jaw-rocking knockouts. The game engine is being completely re-written to allow for greater boxer diversity and "rough and tumble" inside fighting.

The full list of boxers has not been released, but a few names have been revealed. Muhammad Ali is back again and will be able to enter the ring with Sugar Ray Leonard, Lennox Lewis and "Iron" Mike Tyson, among others. You read that right -- Mike "That is a Tattoo on My Face" Tyson is making his return to videogames. Hallelujah.

Somehow, i can just feel it in my bones that they are getting there. Criterion are probably the best EA devs. With them picking up bioware, expect all their games to operate on a super limited budget. EA's strategy for games is using the smallest resources to yield the largest profit. They will always operate on the small increments on madden because they know even if nothing changed, same people who bought madden 08 will probably be buying 09.

Def Jam got fvkd up so bad its ridiculous. EA games are all flash no substance. I just hope they can manage a little something on fight night round 4. Iron mike seems to be their flash for this title so expect minor improvements on a 3yr old game

yeah, i want MORE fighters... iron mike is cool but i want to see the top 7-10 guys in each weight class, well not that im concerned with anything like straw weight, but from super bantamweight to heavyweight.... this crap of having like 4 guys per weight class, and half of them are in other weight classes too gets old real fast.

im not a FMM fan but i'd like to see him on the game just to see if he is a step above everyone else, like he is in real life

with the "in the ring" feature they brought out for the PS3 version, there is alot of potential its just a matter of them putting the time into the game and making it worth making!

Well I'm all for it

I like creating a character and doing the training stuff too, well and the fights

If they keep the mixture control I'll be happy because I like the analog and button presses. I use to only use the analog stick but after I played it using both it was awesome

One of my first next gen games i've ever played was Round 3, even before i got my 360. a freind let me play it and i love the series now.
p.s if you use the face button instead of the analog stic to swing a punch, ur a noob in my eyes

I'm a beast in Fight night. My current record is 96-13. What I want to see in Fight Night 4 is a richer Welterweight class. Give me some Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto, De La Hoya, Paul Williams, Kermit Cintron, Hatton, Zab Judah, Ricardo Mayorga, Mayweather.

i could do better online at fight night round 3 if i did not t have so much lag hope they fix the ps3 lag issues turns out online works well with hardly no lag im in. but if not ill still buy this game but i won't be playing online

It's got to do with EA's servers. It lags and disconnects on PS3 and 360.
