Hi guys,

As some of you may or may not know there are actually teams for the Folding@Home project.  I decided since this is my home for PS3 news and info that it would be cool to start a n4g.com team.  Lets see how well we can do as a team!  I hope Dusty does not mind me doing this.  I thought it would be a good way to promote the site and help create more of PS3 community here with us all on a n4g.com team.

If your interested in joing the team all you need to do is once you start Folding@home press the triangle button and then select identity and then change team.

The team number for n4g.com is 61588.

You can see the team stats HERE.

Folding@home is a rip off for the consumer if you think of the electricity costs read the following:

Based on my calculations if anyone was running folding@home for 8 hours a day based on it taking 200 Watts per hour (see:http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/home-entertainment/ps3-foldinghome-tflop-rating-demoted-plus-faq-246900.php)
and using current cost figures from Puget Sound Energy (www.pse.com) at 0.092492 per kWatt

The calculation would be as follows

200(watts) x 8(hours) x 7(days) x 52(weeks) / 1000(to get kWatts) x 0.092492(current electricity cost per kWatt in Washington State) = $53.87USD a Year

and if you calculate $53.87USD x 40,000(Average amount of full time contributing) it equals $2,154,693.63USD out of the consumers pocket.

So do you burn down orphanges and animal shelters since their a drain on the economy? You made your point by starting a thread and then you try and talk people out of making a team for it? Stop being so stingy and give a little for a better tomorrow.

I'll gladly join. Will there be any kind of feature anywhere to let us know how many people are on the team?

Yes the Folding@Home site has all the stats for individuals and teams..you can look at all that stuff when your running Folding or you can do it via PC and the internet.

The stats page where you can look up your donator name and your team.  http://folding.stanford.edu/stats.html  They don't have anything yet for the team stats as I just started it today.  It should get updated in the next few days I am guessing.

Glad to have you and That_Whore on the team!  Hope we can get alot more and we can kick some butt for a good cause!

I agree, it'd be great to see as many people from thise site as possible join in for some good.  Changed my PS3's donor name to Siesser, which is my PSN as well.

You can see the team stats HERE.  We're closing in on you, VG!  It kind of sucks though, because I've actually completed 5 WU, but they're only crediting what I've done since I joined the team or changed my Donor Name; not sure which, since both happened at the same time.

Anyways, PSN: Siesser
