3 Strike's and You're Out The N4G Moderation team is now using a 3 strike system regarding warnings, Which means a First Warning (1) It's ok but try to follow the rules set forth from now on. A Second Warning (2) will result in a temporary one week ban from the forums. A Third Warning (3) will result in a Permanent Ban from the forums.
"Keep your posts relevant! The Members Chat section is a place for you to discuss topics not covered in the other forums. This does not mean that you can discuss ANYTHING here. That being said, the rules are as follows.
Spam Spam means different things to different people, so let us explain what we think spam is.
Spam is (1) making multiple topics of the same nature, (2) making multiple topics with no purpose, (3) making multiple short replies back-to-back in a topic, (4) making multiple short replies in several topics (usually with the purpose of running up your post count), and (5) making long posts that repeat the same word, phrase, or smilie with the intent to annoy other users.
Spam isn't tolerated. It will result in a warning and possible suspension of your account.
Advertising We don't want to join your forums. We don't want to hear about your forums. Do not post links to your forums. Do not even talk about your forums. Advertising results in an immediate and permanent suspension of your account. Mass advertising (making more than one topic or post advertising your site or forums) may result in your IP address being banned.
Furthermore, do not reply to an advertisement. If someone makes a thread advertising, ignore it. If someone replies to a thread and advertises, ignore it.
Flaming Flaming, like spamming, means different things to different people. To us, flaming is posting something mean or derogatory with the intent of demeaning another user or initiating conflict. Just be nice. If you want to crack jokes about people, that's one thing. But to just deliberately rail them into the ground is unnecessary, and it won't be tolerated. Flaming will result in a warning and or banning at the moderator's discretion.
Smilies Replying to a post with a single smilie is not against the rules. Sometimes, it can be very amusing. However, don't do it constantly, and yes, we'll notice if you do. Posting numerous smilie-only posts will result in a warning. If you continue to do it, you will be banned at the discretion of the moderator.
Reposting Threads If a thread is deleted, it is deleted for a reason. Reposting this same thread will get you warned. Also, posting a topic saying, "My thread was deleted," will also get you warned. Obviously, reposted threads will also be deleted.
"I'm Bored, Let's Chat" Don't post topics that sound like this. If you're bored and want to chat, post in topics that have a purpose, or use the PM system and start messaging people.
"These Forums Suck" Posting topics describing how much you dislike these forums will get you a 30 day ban. Why should you care? You don't even like this place.
Language We want our forums to be enjoyable and safe for all ages. This being the case, we have to monitor what words are allowed at our forums. If a word is censored, don't go out of your way to bypass the censor. Doing so will result in a warning. Future cases may result in a suspension.
Pornography and Other Images Posting links to pornography will result in an immediate suspension of your account and a banning of your IP address when an admin logs in, no questions asked.
News Articles Posting links to articles found on N4G and other web sites like CNN, Fox, CBS, or any other form of news medium is fine. However, don't make a topic like this:
Topic Title: HEY GUYS CHECK THIS OUT
Topic Content: LINK
This will get you warned. If you want to post a link to an article, post the link, share your own sentiments about the article, and then ask others for their reaction. This is called intelligent discussion and is definitely encouraged.
Legibility If you don't know what this word means, click
here.
If we can't understand what you're saying, we're going to delete your threads and posts. If you have a problem with spelling and grammar, proofread your posts before you hit that Reply button. This doesn't mean that you have to spell everything perfectly and have the best grammar skills, but again, we have to understand what you're saying. Otherwise, it's just garbage and a waste of web space.
Make Sure the Topic Goes Here Before you post a topic here, make sure there is not a forum that this topic would fall under. Topics will be moved or deleted at the moderator's discretion.
Topic Titles Please, please, please make the title of your topic relevant to the actual content inside the topic. This way, users can easily thumb through the topics and find a specific topic they are looking for. This also helps to prevent redundant topics.
Redundant Topics This means that most of the topics in the forum have recent posts in them. So, there should not be many pages of topics. Before you post a new topic, please check to make sure there is not another topic about it somewhere in the forum. If you post a new topic that is the same as a topic that has been active in the past two days, you will be warned.
Double/Triple Posting Please try not to double or triple post. If you post in a topic and realize you forgot to mention something, use the edit button. Sometimes, someone posts while you are typing your post, and if you feel the need to comment on this post, still use the edit button. Do not post a new post. Double posts will be deleted. Triple posting will get you warned and potentially banned. It's very impossible to "accidentally" triple post.
Complaining about Members and Admins If you have a complaint about another poster, contact a moderator via private messages.
FAQ For Forum Problems What if I have a problem with a post or thread? You may contact an Administrator or Moderator. Each of our administrators and moderators will take every report seriously but moderators are generally the ones who handle forum problems so please contact them first. Please give them time to respond to your problem; some may not always be at their computer.
Who are the Administrators and Moderators? Administrators: Dragonfly, Dusty, JamieSI, and ZeroTolerance, Catastrophe

What if I have a problem with a Moderators decision?
If you are not satisfied with what a moderator is doing or has said you may contact one of the administrators listed above.
Where did my thread go? Was it locked, deleted, or did gremlins take it? It was probably moved or deleted by an administrator or moderator. Normally when this happens the administrator or moderator will send you a PM notifying of what happened so please check your inbox. Do not remake or repost for this will only anger the forum gods and they may smite (ban) you.
This is a growing FAQ for the general site if you feel there is something that NEEDS to be placed on this list please feel free to contact a forum moderator or administrator.
