Not saying e4g is not credible or anything but I'd wait for some more reputable sites to confirm before being so excited.

Well first off...

That program editing the track is Aliases Maya. A 3d modeling program like uhm, 3dstudio max.

But, the source of the new-rumor revival is #1, Amar. The guy thats been right about everything for GT since the past.. 3 titles already said it was coming..

As does the Sony rep in this video..

And there are finnish people translating what is said to be "rata" Which means road track. Its pretty evident its on its way.

I thought it was Maya myself, glad to know I am not the only one that has experience in some 3-D programs.

gasp.. there can be only 1... nice 2 know.  I do 3d/2d stuff. Compositing & Previz/Modeling. I mean there is a slight chance it could be some proprietary software, and they are mimicking mayas interface. But most of the behind the scenes footage of the vehicles clearly show they are using Maya. I dont believe thats the editor, but I do believe GT is going to have one. I can't remember where, but there is an interview of KY talking about mixing & matching famous parts of tracks in a wouldn't-it-be-cool type fashion. I think they have the tech to do it. No question about that.

I really really want this to be true, but I'm not going to get my hopes up until we get some confirmation.

Off topic-

But who here prefers MAYA over MAX? Its not that I hate MAX per se, but I find their rigging system to be alot more complicated than MAYAs. Still, 2 programs that I use daily so I gotta love it...even if its tough love.

If this is true, I would still bet that Modnation Racers' track editor is more in depth since that is what the game is basically centered around.  Also, you won't be placing sheep and items all over your GT5 tracks. :)

The more I see the more I think this is all fake and blown up from nothing. The only credible info we have comes from one (possibly misinformed) Sony rep, and everything else is just latching onto that. Much like MGS4 360 rumours. This video, for instance, just shows them modelling the cars and tracks. Nothing to do with an in-game track editor.
