WOW

It fvking took 4hrs to download this baby another 15mins to update and here i am. 2hrs after playing still marveling at the prologue of what could possibly be the best racing game ever created. The visuals have improved significantly since the JP demo last yr. Everything you would expect from a racing game. Excellent car handling, Visuals are probably the best EVER. The car physics on professional (All i play on) are superb. I need to get a hold of my 360 again and a copy of forza 2 to really compare the 2 beasties. The price may seem high at 1st when compared to GT5 but with a game this robust, GT5 is probably worth more than 60 bucks probably more like 80 (hopefully sony doesn't read this). I have always loved racing games but racing games grow very boring quickly imo but from my 2hrs playing i can say GT5P can stand the test of time

So far my only cons with the game are no fvkin custom soundtracks. How the hell am i supposed to completely immerse myself in a cappuchino, or a mazda sport if i ain't bumping my own tunes. This is a major con in my book. Not all games require custom soundtrack but the ability to play your own musics practically quadruples the driving experience.

I haven't been online yet and damage doesn't affect me because i actually avoid the cars and don't hit walls intentionally. So not a major con for me

it is good, but imo it doesnt beat Forza 2 yet but remember its only a demo so the full game most prob would...

though saying that by the time we see GT5 we may be seeing Forza 3 - now that would be interesting

It doesn't look as good as the videos. There are a lot of jagged edges with no AA anywhere. Its still a gorgeous game but I haven't seen anything, besides the cockpit view, that make it better than Forza 2.

yeah it doesnt and PD are famous for their bullshots when it comes to graphics, but it still does look fantastic, the car models are unbelievably gorgeous and blow the competitions away.

I too love the cockpit view its amazing and it really helps you feel like you actually 'own' the cars more than previous titles and in Forza

But in the end I agree that Forza 2 still is on top as a racing game, but GT5:P is only a demo and it shows how fantastic the full game will be for all gamers out there

Well i don't know what videos you have been watching but it looks better than a lot of the videos i have seen. Forza 2 had more jaggies than GT5P so i don't see why everyone is complaining.

@predator, forza 3 coming next yr is a mistake. GT5 has more hype, more fans and is a better known brand. Based off the taste of the prologue, GT5 will BE better than forza 3 unless forza really jumps through some hoops. They are better off releasing it before GT5 comes out. If they go around the same time or after its over.

If they were directly competing with each other on the same consoles you would have point but they're not, they could both be coming out on the same day and it wouldn't matter cuz sim racing fan already know which style they prefer.

I'm telling you if they release before GT5 they have a better chance of getting sales.

I wasnt that impressed when I rented it
I mean theres no damage WTF thats a MAJOR fault
And online is like some bumper car sim but if you crash or cut corners you go in some flashy slow motion crap, not very realistic
but it looks so good, (but not as good as the trailers though)

What trailers are you guys seeing or what tv are you playing on. I play on 720p and from what i played, the trailers simply don't do it justice. It cannot be worse than the gameplay videos unless your tv settings are wrong. And all the trailers were made in engine and the replays look just as good as those. So i really want to know what trailers are you guys watching to see if GT can really look better so i can upgrade my TV

We could go with true realism in crashes.  You hit a wall at 120 mph, the screen flashes a redish color then goes black and you either get a "your unconcious" or a "your dead" prompt, and thats the extent of the damage.

If damage is a major concern for you, then GT probably never was the right game for you.

Agreed. But i don't think damage is as big a deal as everyone makes it to be. I am more interested in functional damage than physical damage. Anyways will be eagerly anticipating the fall update but like i said i hope there is an option to turn it off

The Video that I have seen are all the ones on the PS store and on the disc its self. I'm running the game at 1080p and it has jagged edges unless the scaling that they are using sucks the big one because the game is not really native 1080p but a scaled up version of 1440x1080 or something like that.

There were two videos on the PS store that shows the true side GT5P and they were named "Thin Lizzy" & "Mars Volta". The jagged edges that I am taking in game about are apparent there.

Also the videos are made in engine but they never said that it was real time on the engine. Those are two diffrent things.

But the vids look exactly the same regardless. I will re download the videos when i get home. Heard 720p has 4x AA so maybe thats why the jaggies are less for me. But as far as i can tell from all the vids i have seen it looks exactly like the trailers if not better

Yeah, they should definately punish people like me who when frustrated would simply slide their car along the corner wall of a turn because it was faster than actually taking the turn properly.  Also, a few time in GT4 and 3 I got enough bump off a... bump that my car would have actually fliped over, but the engine magically stops this from happening making for a extreamly stupid looking replay.  I havn't played Forza, and expect I'd probably be bias toward GT, but I like that Forza is giving a little competition.

Also, anyone have an opinion on the GT driving wheel?  I'd really like to get it.  Anyone have it?
