So I walked into GameStop today with my cuz to get him Burnout Paradise and to get a new card for XBL, and we go in start lookin around, pick up the game, we get to talkin and he's see's a PS3 box and says, man I 'm gonna get me one of them.  All of a sudden, the guy working there turns around and says, "WHY?!"  My cuz aint no huge gamer and didnt wanna get into any deep convo, so he says, "Just because I want one".

I was a little ticked off at the lack of professionalism, and I say what's wrong with that, I have one and love it.  He asks me what games do I play, I respond with, "The same ones that you have, minus a few".  I don't wanna get into a gamer argument with the guy, but i was close to laying down the knowledge on him...

I did say we got games like MGS4, Killzone 2 and Resistance 2 coming soon tho, I wanted him to know i knew a little about what I was talking about.  Then he goes and says that Resistance was nothing compared to Halo, that's when I just decide to let it go and not put this guy in his place for that remark.

Basically, if you're gonna work at a videogame place, you should at least act like you aren't biased to any system(especially with those terrible lines for reasoning).  Also, I hate when some of them don't know anything about a game that is semi popular, I know you might not know about everygame, but the one I went to in NY, everytime i went and asked about a game, the guy replied.."Uh..idk, i never played that"  this was multiple times.

All I'm saying is, be a good employee when dealing with gamers b/c since you work at GameStop, some ppl take your comments as serious knowledge and these ppl are the reason why some gamers are as dumb as they are when it comes to what's really going on in the industry...it seems like most of the gamestops i go to are Xbox supporters and Sony Haters...but what can we do about it, Gamestop hires anyone and has prolly no standards, except age.

Same thing happened to me.. I went into Game Crazy a couple of months back to buy Heavenly Sword and the guy sees me looking at the PS3 shelf. He asks if I have one and I tell him yes and then says back," I only like Xbox 360.. Sorry.." Like it actually hurt my feelings that he doesnt like/own a ps3. He then asks the dumbest question ever " I bet you bought it because you watch movies huh?".. I just looked at him and said "Can I have a copy of Heavenly Sword please?" **laughs**

You can tell how some people just buy into whatever they are told without doing any research on their own. Its nothing to get upset about though. This pro (mostly) 360 biased is no different from when I got judged according to the type of movies I rented at Blockbuster.

Wow, usually when you post an article about gamestop you get a few of their employees responding trying to defend their company.

But seriously, gamestop is garbage. You can always tell when someone has no taste because they cite either GTA or Halo as teh best games ever! I just love the way their employees act like they know everything. Look, I know they spend all day talking to ignorant parents about which console is best for little Tommy, but give the average joe some credit. Videogames did exist before gamestop employees were around to spew their opinions about them.

One thing I have noticed though about gamestop is all the anti-ps3 sentiment. They always try and dog the PS3. They act live the XBOX isn't following the direction that was paved by PS. I would think that anyone who loves games enough to work in a store dedicated to them would have the capacity to appreciate games of all kinds. A fanboy should never be working this job. As much as I hate MS I can still appreciate certain aspects of the 360.

Guy that works at my gamestop used to read me magazines on the gamestop shelf bashing the PS3. Every fvkin time...lol. He was always telling me 360 was the way to go and he was a personal Msoft sales associate. He was always trying to get me to buy a 360 but i always said thats cool thats cool. So when i got 360 for christmas and i went in to pick up dead rising he was shocked like oh you have a 360 i almost didn't buy the game just cus of that. What a hoe.

I always used to tell him as long as 360 didn't have MGS4 i would be forced to own one and he would always tell me trust me its coming to 360 and he would read me magazines and i would be like yea watever. Haha he doesn't talk much anymore though

The other day in was at a different gamestop for about 20mins checking out games and 2 sets of people walked in to buy PS3. First set of people walked away with one but the guy persuaded them to wait for MGS bundle. 2nd set didn't seem to care about MGS too much but they said they would wait because they wanted 80GB. I guess it depends on the store

Wow can I make up a story about how this one Gamestop employee made fun of the PS3 and make a post over the internet of how upset I am about it?

Then again you people might be telling the truth if your somehow offended/upset by me saying this.

If this is going to be all about PS3 bashing I'll move it to a more appropriate section...Anyone else have any other anecdotes detailing wrongs done by games stores?? perhaps less console-specific ones...

Probally not the game stores fault though in some cases it is but the greatest hits boxes. They are ugly looking and I don't want them. Seriously I give the Gamestop employee a non greatest hits box and he just goes and gives me the greatest hits one. What are you an idiot? Give me the normal box A-hole.

Also this one time I see a box for a game I wanted but the problem was it had the wrong box. So I asked the guy if he could give it it's regular box and he was like "sorry can't do that!" F-YOU! it's not the right box! Do your job better! So I bought it at Game Crazy.

Ah I think i'm having fun in this thread now.

Well there was this one time I was in a Gamestop and this guy got mad because they stop selling DVDs. I mean he was having a serious case of roids rage. I thought it was going to be blood, guts, and Nintendo DS cartridges all over the ground :P

The Blockbuster across from me employs the biggest clownshoes. I go to pay for GTA IV in full and this hairball standing next to they guy whose helping me interupts and starts saying I can't pre-pay and there is no guarantee the game will be held. Then he says they won't stay open one minute late (they close at midnite) to sell the game. I reported the guy.

Best thing to do is get the employees name. They usually shut up when you politely ask for their first name. Then don't call the store manager, call the "district manager" EB\Gamestop has them.

When I traded in a game and got $15 for it when the website stated $33 I got the difference towards another game. Just state facts, use logic and be polite. Complaining on forums does nothing. Talking to management does.

One time I accidently returned the wrong game in the case to blockbuster, then when I confirmed that w/ the employee, he refused to let me take the game back until I returned the disc! What a dueche bag! So I scratched the hell out of the game I was returning and got my game back.

Well...looks like someone was trying to get fired.

Also, I'm pretty sure all of us know that posting in the forums won't help, but that's no reason not to post something.  We like to share experiences and like to get other ppls ideas on topics and what they would do in that situation and stuff like that.

No offense to, but in general, I hate when ppl come to a topic and complain about the person who started the thread for why they would start it...I say, if its not one of those flamebait topics, let ppl talk about whatever they wanna talk about, and if you dont have anything to contribute, dont get in and dont start any trouble by commenting on why you dont think they should complain about stuff.

This is how threads get locked, ppl come in against the flow of the topic, and throw things off. But again, no offense to you El Salvador, your post was helpful in a way, b/c i never considered calling a manager or whatever, but i've never been in a situation where i would have to
