This thread is dedicated for those who would like answers to why they have been banned.

Gamer Zone Posting Guidelines
The Gamer Zone is for members who want a more friendly and civilized discussion. This section is heavily moderated by the N4G staff, so leave your fanboyism at the door please. Members who are unable to behave in a mature and respectful manner will be temporarily or permanently restricted from posting in the Gamer Zone. Using words such as Xbots and Sony droids, or other words from the console war vocabulary, is strictly prohibited in this Zone.

1 day, 5 days...whats the next length for a ban after 5 days?

And when I got banned both sides were joking...quite clearly I may add...but I still got 5 days for insulting someone. If this happens again should I get both parties to PM a mod telling him/her that it was just a joke. Or shall we take all the fun away and just not joke around?

Also, for longer bans I really think there should be some kind of probationary period/appeal system in place.

With the site growing and the N4G mod staff showing they can't handle the load, maybe a new mod(s) should be considered.

I'm not trying to offend anyone and I must admit you guys do a hell of a job already, it's just...irritating when it takes 12 hours to see that phrase "deleted by mod".

Ban Time lengths will increase when a members comments continue to not regard the GZ guidelines.
The Time lengths are not set in stone and are up to the discretion of the moderator.

Humor in the GZ if most welcome just keep it clean and leave out the fanboyish phrases/comments.

To help this we have to stress again the importance of reporting. All mods have access to reports and we all check them regularly when we are logged on. There are far to many comments made on this site to keep them all in check with out reporting them unless we had a staff of 50 or more. Is the system perfect? No but i feel most comments are caught as long as reporting happens.

Hiring more mods would be up to the admin staff mostly. We give input on who should be selected and why that person should be selected. Sometimes it is hard to see if that comment is joking or not and I do mark alot of the comments as spam most of the time. The reporting system is there to use so please feel free to use it, also remember that we are not always on and there will be comments which fall threw the net.

Anyways back to this eassy. =/

Hi, just a quick question for Mods/Admins.

I have tried contacting several of you through PM's but havent receive any replies, so as thats getting me absolutely no where I thought Id try this.

Earlier today I was banned from the gamer zone. Now I haven't been a member here for that long but I have only ever stuck to your rules and have always gone out of my way to help anyone I can. But like I said earlier in an MGO thread I had a comment "deleted by mod". That comment contained nothing that is against the rules. I have never been banned before, so I was hoping you could explain 1, why I was banned when others write so much worse than I, and 2, Why the length of the ban is long, 30 days, which I believe is completely ridiculous and unjustified.

Hopefully one of you will take the time to reply to me. I dont want to start using another site, as I really like N4G but the way I have been treated is completely out of order in my opinion.

Thanks, this is my first forum post so I hope I got it right.

Hi,

Sorry, I cant remember it word for word and I cant view it in my comments anymore.

But here's roughly what happened, basically, someone undermined a comment I made so I replied to them, nothing offensive or unjustified as I know thats against the rules. Admittedly, I should have ignored their jab at me and I usual do, but in this case I didnt, and maybe that makes my comment slightly off topic, I dont know.

It's not the ban that bothers me so much, even though I dont think I deserved it, its the period of the ban, Ive never spoke out of line before, never had a warning that I know of, nothing. Yet I get banned for 30 days?? Slightly harsh no?

I like to think I'm a useful member for N4G to have, I'm always helpful to anyone I can be. I even spend several hours yesterday getting MGO beta ID's for fellow members that were having problems. I like to think Im a respected member.

Im just a gamer, just having the pen zone is next to pointless for me, theres nobody constructive in there, its just the usual rubbish. You know what Im talking about.

Long story short because Im woffling now, I just want to know what I did that was wrong, and why I got banned for such a long time, when I see people get the same as me "deleted by mod" and yet 10 minutes they're posting comments in the open zone.

Read through my comments. I dont believe I have ever done anything to deserve this treatment, maybe Im wrong, but thats what Id like to find out.

considering its your first time banned and i can vouch for you when you say you go by the rules so i think 30 days is very extreme.

I really wanna know why
i didnt say anythign insulting or agressive,
in fact i posted a screenshot of the kz2 video demonstration and offered the timetag of the video to prove
that jason360 and his claims it was from the e3 video where wrong.

suddenly i get banned and punished 2 bubbles

i really think its a bit strange that i get punished for proving someone wrong who Flames around the gamerzone all day long.
in fact i grow tired of noone doing anythign against those who spam every thread with a lil console war instead of talking about the actual game

it was about gow2 and i just wanted jason to stop talking about kz2 and stop bashing sony
so i proofed him wrong with his claim on the last reply.

maybe someone could explain me why i get banned for that ???

i might understand a deletion of the post as it wasn on topic
but why is MY post the only one deleted and receiving BANNED
instead of stoping the whole discussion with deleting jason360's flames and the responses,
and why is everyone allowed to call others fanboys or insult them without punish, and i get the boot ? for nothing .....

so i get banned 2 days from gamerzone and have my response in that topic deleted.

if i recall, what i wrote was:

"i hope i have enough time to squeeze this game in between all the jrpgs my xbox 360 is gonne be seeing"

yep, that's worth a 2-day ban.

yeah, I got a 2 bubble penalty and a pretty hefty ban for pointing out yet another fake account in the gamer zone, I am not the enemy here. Why?

Wow, now I get banned from the gamer zone for what exactly, that wasn't on par with what anyone else has done? All I did was say that someone was an idiot for trying to spin a story into a pro-MS story when many on that very comment had others do the exact same thing (call Breakfast out on something that he said in similar fashion) and never get called at on it (for 6 days, even). It wasn't any worse than anyone else has written (in fact, what I said was tame compared to the many things that these people have said and gotten away with it). Also, Breakfast is one of those people that likes to report anyone he doesn't like, and has insulted people in the past without any consequence.

Can someone PLEASE tell me why I was banned for something that has been done without fail by alot of people in that zone while everyone else gets away with it?

EDIT: I just realized that I was also punished THREE BUBBLES, as well. My God, this was WAY harsh for something that I've witnessed others get away with countless times.
