Status: offline 		Anyone have any idea when the God of War game for PS3 is coming out? And is it worth playing through the first couple games on PS2 to get some storyline background?

we should be getting some info on GOW3 at E3 next week
and the 2 previous ones along with COO are deffinately worth playing, theve aged pretty well so graphics shouldnt be a problem

Status: offline 		Probably late 2009 and no you don't really need to play them to get the story but you should play them for they are pretty sweet games in any event.

Status: offline 		All 3 current GOW titles have released during the month of March. Take what you will from that.

As for playability, as we speak you are missing 3 of the best games ever made. God Of War is the story of Kratos' redemption after Ares (the god of war) pushes him too far.

God Of War II is how Kratos fights his fate, something that no one can change.

God Of War: Chains Of Olympus is a prequel to God Of War, and runs you through Kratos' years of servitude to Ares before his strife with him began.

God Of War and God Of War II are on PS2 and can be picked up for under $30 each. God Of War: Chains Of Olympus is for PSP, and yes it's worth buying one for.

That's the best I can summarize them without spoiling them. The stories are fantastic.

All three games, personally, are astounding, and are Triple-A Playstation exclusives. If you need more than "GO BUY NOW!", here's their respective meta-scores:

Status: offline 		You have to play this game; I still can't believe some of my friends haven't  played the game yet.  I've been trying to get them going on it, but they don't want to go back and do it.  The games are amazing.  GOWII might have been the best game on the PS2.

If you feel that way, then so be it. It's up to you. I personally think Dante is a lot more fun as a character than Kratos will ever be... He's a lot more stylish, too... And I can safely say that Kratos would never be able to beat Dante in a fight, either.

Either way, I don't care. I merely used DMC as an example of a game in the lacklustre genre that I'm more than happy to play. God of War is another such series. I'm quite looking forward to the next game, especially after having seen the end of GoW2...

I disrespectfully disagree. There is no entity that ever existed in a video game that can beat kratos. He dies he climbs out of hell like he just went there for holiday.

Dante may have more style but being a girl you are probably more into that kind of ****. Us guys on the other hand just want some animal that runs around in a skirt having threesomes with random sluts and pulling out eyeballs from peoples eye sockets with his bare hand.

As for my personal opinion on DMC. I have only played DMC 2 and 4. Both sucked
