About to buy a 120gb hard drive. Could I transfer all my saves and games with a usb memory stick ? And what would happen if I didnt transfer my MGS4 4gb game data ? Would it install all the installs ( like the ones inbetween each the acts) or just the one(s) needed for me to carry on playing ? I am a bit worried MGS4 just wont work. One more question: can I transfer part of a game ? Example, I transfer 500mb of warhawk and then the remaining 300mb after. Would it work ?

well if you were to put both hard drives into your computer you could clone the current onto the 120 and delete whatever you dont want after

nope, ps3 hard drives are SATA based so if you have a sata computer you can plug them directly into your computer or spend $10 on a sata to IDE converter kit

Yeah but the new harddrive for the PS3 has to be formatted prior to it working so that would wipe out all the data.

What I would suggest is moving all of your stuff into a folder on your PC by loading up your USB drive a few times and dumping it over. Then, after the install, move it all back. A pain in the ass, but all your data will move over.

when you clone a hard drive it formats it first in the correct filesystem then copies it all voer

Oh, well there ya go then. If you don't want to go the easy route AuToFiRE suggests, my option will work too.
