Hi, i just bought a ps3 and i was wondering how much power in watts it consumes, cuz im going on a road trip and i have a 150W power converter for the car so i wanted  know if that was enough?

Average power consumption while playing games:
Wii - 17.8 watts
XBox 360 - 185.1 watts
PS3 - 193.6

Average power consumption (idle):
Wii - 13.5 watts
XBox 360 - 157.54 watts
PS3 - 177.17 watts

Average power consumption (standby):
Wii (Connect24 off) - 1.3 watts
XBox 360 - 2.5 watts
PS3 - 1.9 watts

The new systems might be slightly lower but not enough to get to 150w I'd imagine. 175w should be good for both but I am no expert, lol.

Should be a significant amount lower, but you're right... the 150w is pushing it, especially with how some of those ratings are formulated.

Just FYI, I was looking into wattages regarding F@H and found this: "...Stanford's estimate of 200W per PS3 (for original units manufactured on the 90nm process), ...The Cell processors used in current units of the Playstation 3 utilize 65nm technology (lowering power consumption to around 115W per PS3), with another upgrade to 45nm planned (further dropping consumption to around 80W/PS3). This will further increase the power efficiency of the contribution from Playstation 3 units."

So it seems that 65nm results in a 42.5% decrease in consumption and the 45nm subtracts another 17.5%...
