I for one want some more good games coming out this generation but I do want to see some more titles that represent this generation like when you think about the PS3/360/Wii generation you think about Gears of War, Call of Duty 4, Resistance, and Final Fantasy XIII.

 I don't wanna see the next generation come out 'til about 2014, and both consoles come out at the same time, but I can't really see that happening.

i think the 360 and wii 2 will be here 2011, here's why, epic said no more gears on 360, and if they planned on keeping the console for another few years, it would be stupid to not have another one, epic also announced that they were holding back UE4 for the next gen ( not like they have a choice as the current console's would struggle, and that's besides the fact that the current gen wouldn't support the dx11 features of the engine)

and with nintendo i think they'll follow suit because it's only logical, and let's face it, nintendo's always working on something new,

but sony will come late because they need to actually make some money from the ps3 first:

this gens consoles are fine as consoles, but they were touted as TRUE HD console's which they are not, and this makes them seem inferior seeing as how the HD tv's are dominating and the console's can't keep up,

it will be good to see 1080p native console's unstead of upscaled and running at 30 frames

lled competition. I for one don't want to see these consoles comeing out for 3-4 more years or until we truely see an advance that justifies a new console.

im hoping not for another 3-4 years, i'll feel like i dnt get my money's  worth if a new one came any sooner

Now on topic I am hoping that the next gen will arrive no sooner than Nov 2011. Sony will try and make sure this time not to fall behind in the next gen era like they did when Microsoft came out a year early.

  

Nothing to worry about PS3 is future proof and will be supported at least a couple years after PS4 drops.  Look at the PS2...still supported so late adopters of PS3 should not stress about it not being supported long enough.  None of the company's are going to launch a next gen console anytime soon either.

When the big 3 are getting ready to launch another we will have plenty of info about it being dropped in mags , across the net and at E3,TGS etc at least a year before it hits the market.

I feel it is all a numbers game anyway.  Long as the big three keep selling, there is no need for a new console.  Once the numbers begin to fall thats when they will start talking next generation.  But if I had to guess.  I would believe that Nintendo has to do something first.  They are falling first in sales and they need developer support to make people turn back on their consoles.  I have said to many people I know that it is gimmick.  Worldwide people bought into the Wii play together thing and they sold a ton of units.  But the two main consoles on televisions now are Sony and Microsoft because now they are close to Nintendos price point.  And besides they keep making a huge deal about Nintendos numbers are dropping off and there is a good reason for that.  Everyone in their market has gone out and got one already. The casual gamer will soon fall off because they are not making games that keep their interest, while the regular gamer lives on.  (Regular gamer being the gamer that was there last generation) Nintendo needs to learn that they need to make things for the main market because they are the ones that will buy games for the systems.  The casual gamer will only cut on the system if it is a party atmosphere or during certain circumstances.  You have to make things for your target audience.  Microsoft should be next because of this whole RROD issue.  They dont need to necessarily put out a 720 but they just need to fix the main problem they have now.  Their sales have been so crushing to Sony mainly because you have to buy more than one to play a game.  They made a console that has its own life expectancy of about a year or two.  Its like playing russian roulette with your money.  Because everytime you hit that power button you take the chance of the system dying.  If people just stopped rebuying or rerebuying the system they would of had no choice but to fix the problem because they would not be making any money.  Maybe Microsoft need a carbon fiber model to come out.  Sony can just wait and see what the climate is for their system.  They will soon gain people buying their system because they either want to play their back catalog of games since launch or they will get the person who Jumps Ship from Microsoft because they dont want to rebuy the system anymore.

Well to be fair... The only true HD console this gen is the PS3 so MS can release a new console and maybe actually be on par with the PS3's forward thinking. 

MS will hopefully release a console with an HD media, free online, built in wifi/bluetooth and standard HDD and also capable of massive technical power with an advanced CPU and then we will actually be in the NEXT gen of consoles.

I imagine Sony pumping out games until 2015 for the PS3

well to be fair, your lying, True HD means 1080p standard, neither console is anywhere near that, 99% of games run at 720p, 0.5%run at 1080p ( the ones with weaker graphics), and the other 0.5% run at sub 720p. Considering that pc's have been running games at 1280*720 for....oh 8 years, i would hardly call this gen of console's 'next gen', the next round should be the real HD generation
