ORIGINAL: SpaceCowgirl Soldier =/= hero. Soldiers dont want or ask to be heros. We dont try to be. We are merely doing our job, and that is what is expected of us. To read some of the comments from that page just makes me absolutely sick. To think that people around the same age as me are that sick and liberal and willing to go as far as wishing death upon myself and my fellow service men/women is appalling. There really are no words that I can use to describe the kind of feeling I get when I read some of those comments, and continually see the media berate what we do over there and demonizing myself and the other troops. It's like they dont understand that they wouldnt have the right and freedom to bitch if it werent for veterans, and we wouldnt have the luxuries we have if it work for the military. We'd all be speaking German if it werent for the US military... and here people want to wish death upon them. That is beyond wrong. As I've said in the other threads that talk about Iraq, the military, w/e... we do not ask for war, but it is our duty and our job to fight and serve the president. Not only that, but we took an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the US. Does that mean we want to be heros? If it does, then people obviously have a different perspective on what it means to be a hero. We're all just doing our job (over there, so we dont have to do it here on our soil where our blood and our innocents will be spilled)!
