Some idiot mocks the death of someone who served their country and DIED and apparently that is acceptable to the N4G staff while me calling him a "f***ing idiot" apparently is much more offensive. I just want to say you people should be ashamed of yourselves, that's all.

http://www.n4g.com/NewsCom-154299.aspx?CT=1&Page=1&Page2=1#C1170995

And the fact he has 74 agrees just shows how pathetic this entire site is. You should all be ashamed of yourselves, he has no choice at all in where his government sends him and to trivialize his death is just as sickening as watching Uwe Boll's opening scene in Postal.

I can pretty much assure you the members on the forums would not say that niether would i and it is sickening. Most of the people in the story are from the mainsite and not here.

As for the ban PM a mod next time. I believe there is a system in place that automatically traces certain words or phrases however i could be wrong. But that could be why it happened.

But don't worry, you are not the only one angered by how low alot of them stooped to. Im pretty sure if you talk to a mod about it it will be resolved.

Well, as your user nam says, it's a sad truth. Most people don't know what respect and honor means. They are either pretty stupid or really young. That doesn't mean the whole site is crazy. That's just the main site where comments go anywhere they want.

There was a similair story on GamePolitics that I posted long ago. In comments section everyone was either attacking me for posting the news or attacking the young boy that lost his life in war.

As Snoop said, try contacting the mods. Also, N4G forums are indeed a completely different place and a much greater one.

What I don't get is why that article hasn't been deleted yet.  Not only does that have nothing to do with video games, but the fact that this soldier's death gets put on n4g.... yet the other thousands that have died weren't good enough to get an article?  So he was a gamer, big ****ing whoop.  The fact is, he was a soldier that died for our country, let's not sit around feeling better about ourselves because we feel we have a connection with this fallen hero.

That whole article is sickening.

no whats sickening is how low people stooped in the comments section. And i dont mean their stance on the war, but some people blatantly said in that article in the comment section that he deserved to die.

The article is debatable at least the reason why it was posted, the people in the comment section arent. End of story.

Anyways the article fortunetly will be off the front page very soon since its 23 hours old, and hopefully we don't see people stoop to that level again.

im not totally sure why it hasnt, it has gotten some reports but not in a while. It will be off the front page soon since its almost a 24 hour old story. Alot of the comments in that thread were vile and sick reguardless of political stance. It really angered me, especially yesterday.

that is true i guess...its just sad how low some people go

but if we were going to follow the rules, the gamer zone would have alot less comments. perhaps they will just give him grace given the cirumstance if he was banned from the comments section.

Perhaps we can all just forget it and move on. Chances are we will.

yeah, i think his ban should be waived because of that.
i don't think that same rule applies for the open zone though, i think it's allowed there.

yeah modding the comments section would be pretty difficult. I think if he PM's a mod or mods about it something can be resovled. I think in the open zone you typically just report someone since its not monitored as much as the gamer zone.

The good thing is, once it leaves the front page, it wont get much attention.

So lets let this go and move on even if it is hard to do, myself included.

maybe a mod can just delete this thread from existance and talk to TheSadTruth

the fact that comment 1.1 got 27 disagrees for saying "show a little respect" pisses me off.

I tried staying clear from even reading in that topic...but reading it now there so many uniformed opinions.

definetly.

The story itself doesnt really bother because i know why it was posted(even though its debateable if it should be on this site, it was meant to be in honor not dishonor), but the many of the comments were just sickening.

Edit: The good thing is now its off the front page.

TheSadTruth, the restricting mod can contact you if you like. Unfortunately, as other members noted, attacking the article is not generally punishable while attacking other members is. While many comments on that story were disappointing, mods are in place to moderate the behavior of members to one another, not the outside world.

Soldier =/= hero.

Soldiers dont want or ask to be heros. We dont try to be. We are merely doing our job, and that is what is expected of us.

To read some of the comments from that page just makes me absolutely sick. To think that people around the same age as me are that sick and liberal and willing to go as far as wishing death upon myself and my fellow service men/women is appalling. There really are no words that I can use to describe the kind of feeling I get when I read some of those comments, and continually see the media berate what we do over there and demonizing myself and the other troops.

It's like they dont understand that they wouldnt have the right and freedom to bitch if it werent for veterans, and we wouldnt have the luxuries we have if it work for the military. We'd all be speaking German if it werent for the US military... and here people want to wish death upon them. That is beyond wrong.

As I've said in the other threads that talk about Iraq, the military, w/e... we do not ask for war, but it is our duty and our job to fight and serve the president. Not only that, but we took an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the US.

Does that mean we want to be heros? If it does, then people obviously have a different perspective on what it means to be a hero. We're all just doing our job (over there, so we dont have to do it here on our soil where our blood and our innocents will be spilled)!
