Status: offline 		It will be a game a few people play for a few weeks and then a bunch of hardcore players will become uber good at it and scare away any newbies who would dare play in the future.

Soul Calibur 4 is no where near Game of the Year material... it's a fighting game.

Soul Calibur 4 will be popular for a week or so and then it will be back to business as usual.

Status: offline 		I don't even think it'd make fighting game of the year because of SFIV. As much as I hate everything about Street Fighter IV (and I am the hugest of Streetfighter fan mens), it's Street Fighter f*cking 4!!

Status: online 		Well, it won't be forgotten in few weeks and will become one of the better fighters of this gen but definitly won't be a GOTY. If there is a fighter with GOTY chance, it's SF4 and even that has little to no chance.

Games don't have to be GOTY type to remain popular for a long time.

Status: offline 		Ooh forgot about King of Fighters XII, 100% hd hand drawn sprites baby. I am looking forward to see if I still have SC skills though, haven't played since 2 first came out.

    GTA and Fable are not GOTY material. The GTA hype crashed and burned pretty quick and Fable will be crushed by Fallout 3.

    Soul Cal is a fighting game, that said, it doesn't stand a chance any other games.

    Status: offline     		I totally disagree that a fighting game can be game of the year.  Since when did a genre depict whether a game could be so good it was the best game out that year?  I can remember the year the first Soul Calibur came out how many GOTY awards it won.  Now don't get me wrong I certainly don't see SCIV being better than some of the titles already out or coming this year, but genre does not change how good a game can be.

    Not just Fable 2. A whole lot of games will be crushed by Fallout 3. Even a BioShockized Fallout 3 is better and deeper than most 2008 games.
