I ent sure to get extra cooling fan, i use my ps3 alot.

Is it worth the money or am i still save.

If your PS3 is well ventilated then you won't need a cooling fan.

I heard these do more harm than good.

just dont put it on a carpet

it keeps the heat inside the PS3 because its a particularly insulative surface

Carpet don't mix well with electronics.

Waste of money. In my experience it's not worth it because your system will live to the next-generation of consoles but if you think you want to play it over a decade or more than i guess it's worth it.

My friend rarely if ever turns his PS3 off, and he's had it for about a month. Only problem he's seen is a game freezing a bit every once in a while. He doesn't use any extra fans, so if your PS3 is well ventilated, then I really don't think it's necessary.

I have heard this as well. I had a cooling fan on my 360 from Nyko and my system still broke down. I'm not sure, but I heard that the Nyko ones are the ones to avoid as they are the crappiest quality and actually trap heat inside making the system work harder. I don't have a fan on my PS3, but if Nyko sells them, I suggest staying away from that particular one.
