It's actually pretty understandable for this game considering the nature of the user created content. So the answer is: No, not at all. I'm itching to see what the enemy AIs available to us will be like.

Honestly, I don't care about installs.  They're a means to an end and I hate it when the babies out there whine when they have to wait for a game to install.

Supreme Commander for PC is a 8-9 Gig install.  WoW is even more w/expansions.  Not to mention patching.

People will look for any lame tool to try and use in their console bashing.

Also 320GB HDD is in my PS3 so no worries.

Orange Box is like 27 gigs for a full install.

1gb is not a lot compered to most games that are out right now. Most games are 5gb's games should follow them and start to 1gb that will be a good trend

Of course not. Considering the game, it's actually relatively small.

I don't mind at all :) but remember that since its a heavily user created content based game those extra things will take up additional space...that I hope is not too heavy :S or LBP whores will find there HDD filling up quickly O.o

That reminds me I have to get a bigger HDD for my PS3

It is small so I am ok with it but I need a new hard drive soon because of these stupid installs. I have 4 gigs left on my 40gb hard drive. Probably the only thing I hate about the PS3.

While I don't mind individual installs, it's peculiar as to why we're beginning to see an ever increasing figure of titles that need this install on the HDD. But what worries me is that eventually the more games you buy, you'll most likely have to spend money on a bigger HDD, which price wise is fine but principally makes me angry.

I'm waiting for a 500GB 2.5" drive for less than £120

i have a 60 gig plus i bought a 160gig expantion from best buy thats made for ps3 so i have 220 gigs, and i dont think ill run out any time soon.

this also is nice because i can put on music/videos/ and other stuff without worrying about space ....it was about 130$ so it wasnt too bad....not sure if its neccisary but i think its worth not having to worry about space...and i would recomend it to anybody

I have a bit of a side question for you guys.

When the new generation happens, and most likely everyone will be using Blue-Ray do you guys think there will still be installs? I think its just a bi-product of the tech being new and hence the drive is a lot slower then most developers are use to, so when we can spin a BR disk at 16x instea of whatever its at now I think we'll be done with installs.

I say no way. PCs have always had hard drives and they've always had installs. Consoles never had them in the past because hard drives were never part of the equation. Installs are here to stay. Are they really that much of an issue?

well who knows really, if you told me years ago that you could fit a gigs worth of info on a itty bitty thing that plugs into your USB, I wouldn't of believed it.

ya but PC games have always had installs because you were never suppose to have to use the disk again to play the game, but companies started requiring it as a security meassure against piracy.

Console games are not suppose to have installs cause your suppose to have to keep using the disc, just because there is a harddrive doesn't mean they should have installs.

Also its not a big deal now, but if you let the floodgates open whats to stop a developer from making you install 20 gigs worth of crap onto your harddrive, if its the norm?

Install files have always been there they've just been much smaller and on memory cards.

And screw everything being like that of pcs I want there to be a difference between my console and my gaming pc I hate where the Xbox brand has been taking us. Gaming online doesn't have to be pc online any one can copy it. **** R&D teams show some imagination.
