I know some may find this a no brainer but im really thinking about holding off on LBP until December or so, pick it up used when everyone has a ton of levels out for it, and it will hold me over through the December gaming drought.

Im planning on getting Motorstorm II upon release as well as R2 on release so this is what I'm thinking, unless there are reasons to stay away from Farcry that I am not aware of??

BOTH! I can afford both games; one per paycheck, i've equated it to be.

But in actuality, i'm more set on LBP as I know that game is going to be badass. I'm going to wait and see what type of reviews FarCry 2 garners, because i'm still somewhat unsure of it (despite having great graphics). Hopefully there is a demo released before the retail version comes out...

i know most people on this SITE are crazy over LBP and i do think it will be alot of fun, just nothing im going to die over.....and the multiplayer options on Motorstorm II make it a first day purchase for me as well!!!

I must be the only one who ISN'T looking for a multiplayer option when making a game purchase decision. I guess I'm part of the dying breed of gamer who wants to be enveloped by a well-done single player scenario, as opposed to a tacked-on multiplayer component.

Both LBP and Farcry 2 look great, and look to offer something completely different from each other.  But I personally want Dead Space, Fallout 3, and Resistance 2 before either of them, maybe my stance will change once I see some reviews.

Because in my experience, you usually can't have both. You either get an extremely short, forgettable single-player experience (COD4); or you get a tacked-on multiplayer portion that brings nothing new to the table, and is only there to appease the people who whine about multiplayer in the first place (The Darkness).

Games like Warhawk do it right, because the developers realized they didn't wantt to bother with a gimped single-player mode, and therefore concentrated every single resource they had at making the multiplayer the best it could be. Also, a game such as Uncharted has such an amazingly engrossing single player section, that any wish for multiplayer gaming is effectively nullified because of how much content there is in the single player campaign.

There are times, though, when both aspects can co-exist with one another, as is the case with Gears of War. The single player was captivating enough to draw the player in to the very end, and yet the multiplayer aspect of the game has had many people talking about it since it was released.

I'm just an odd one, I guess....

i think you are very correct in some of that......

i do think games should be more specialized in one or the other.... and warhawk did nail it.... especially by only charging what the game was worth instead of charging the usual pricetag for something not worth that.... i wouldnt mind more games designated that way!

and the schedule..... having all these things to do with this many games to play results in me getting NOTHING done around the house!

Oh, shut up.  It is not impossible, nor hard to do both good single and multiplayer experiences.  Most devs just dont want to do it, because they only go with what sells well, because thats all it is about.  Uncharted wasnt that long either, and should have been delayed to add a multiplayer mode, since no one wants to play it after the first playthrough.

    *sigh*

Narrow point of view FTL. You really believe that there is not one person who has wanted to actually play this game more than once before returning it for 15 dollars at his / her local Gamestop? You know there are more things to do in the game besides just beat it.

Your point only reinforces my thoughts that multiplayer is perfect for ADD-prone people who don't want to master everything that a game has to offer.

I don't understand why you'd debate over these two titles, seeing as they're not even remotely similar and will deliver vastly incomparable experiences. Personally, I'm getting Far Cry 2 for PC -- as for LBP, it's just not my thing (creation).

Yeah, there are more things to do then just beat it,but once you do all of those things, it is no longer fun.  For a good game, 2 playthroughs is enough, for a great game, there is at least maybe 2 more to be had on top of that, but then, it gets extremely old.  I loved uncharted the first time around, but I have absolutely no desire to play it a second.  Besides, uncharted was short enough as it was, it could have been VERY possible to add a multiplayer mode and maybe delay it 3-6 months to add something that wouldve added countless replayability.

Quit whining about multiplayer, most of us love it.  I would rather have a decent singleplayer experience with a good multiplayer, than a great singleplayer experience with no multiplayer, because when you don't have wads of cash to spend , replayability is everything, and for me, multiplayer never gets old when playing it with a friend.  After I complete a game, get all the trophies/achievements for a game, then thats it, theres nothing left for me to want to do.  Playing with a friend is much more enjoyable.  A game can be both, it doesn't have to suffer because of either single/multiplayer experiences.  Don't blame the people who prefer multiplayer over single player, blame the damn developers for making a half assed single player.  They're not ordered to make multiplayer, it is their decision.  It is also their decision whether they actually work hard on their game or not, because if either multiplayer or singleplayer isnt good, then they didnt work hard on the game and didnt care much about it to begin with.

Go on insulting mp fans as having "add", it only adds to your intolerance of people who have a different opinion than yours, which is what it comes down to.  Just because people don't prefer singleplayer like you do, doesn't mean that they are mindless idiots who just want a quick and shallow experience.

I look for good MP with certain titles (all shooters for example), but I look for a good SP in every title.

I agree that it's best to have it great both ways, but I rarely/never buy MP-only / garbage SP titles.

You really can not choose between the both of them. But if you actually did some how i would say Farcry 2 only because i played some of LBP already.

I wouldn't say 'of course' at all. FC2 looks seriously kick ass.
