I have some files that don't seem to load on Banshee. They are .avi.
Is there a way to get them to load on Banshee?I have been looking on Google and can't find much to get them to load on Banshee.
And yet, when I double click on the file it plays with movie player.
Also, this isn't with all .avi files,as some do load on Banshee, while these others don't.Why is this?

That's odd, i never had that problem.
Hey check what version of banshee you got and post it here.

Open Banshee and click where it says help(on the top) and select About.

Maybe an upgrade to version 1.5 will fix this problem, that's the one i'm using and all my videos work fine.

Here is how to upgrade:

Open Terminal and type: (copy and paste from here)

sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 6E80C6B7

Then open your open source list:

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

There copy and paste this lines:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/banshee-team/banshee-unstable/ubuntu jaunty main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/banshee-team/banshee-unstable/ubuntu jaunty main
Save and close.

Now on Terminal type this:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
Press "y" when ask to and Done!

It's pretty easy but feel free to ask if you need any help.

Re:Linux Thread - Saturday, October 10, 2009 11:31 AM
Okay,I'll try that thanks.I am suprised it doesn't update with the regular updates.

Oh crap.It is updating the Linux headers.I suppose I will loose the sound on here again.
I wish there was a fix for that.If I have no sound means I will have to redo it,then loose the updates for Banshee.
I hate this computer.

well if you have them(linux headers) blocked they shouldn't be updated.
It would suck big time if you loose your sound again.

I upgraded manually about 6 weeks ago.  Works about the same as the last one, imo.  Soon I'll have to stop updating or my pc won't be able to keep up.  Probably stop at Ubuntu 10 on this pc.

Does Youtube (or any flash video website) work fine for you when you switch to full screen, 'cause i'm beginning to think that the reason for my flash problems is my ****ty computer and not Ubuntu.

Well you can always find a theme that looks exactly like the old one.

I don't expect 9.10 to be much different from what i got now but i'm still looking forward to upgrade.

Actually no, they don't run very well in full screen, but I think it's to do with my ****ty on-board graphics card.  Could be a Linux thing, though.  I don't spend a lot of time streaming videos online so it never bothered me much.
