Post all impressions of MGO here. So far i have only done character creation but going back in about an hr to delve into it properly. On the visual front, the game seems pretty good. It also seems like the slowed it down a bit since the japanese beta. Kojima was saying he wanted to get more of a stealth game out of it so maybe thats why.

5/5 in my book.

It took me over an hour to get used to the controls, but they are much better than the original MGS.  Graphics are top notch, I haven't experienced any lag, the character customization is pretty cool, I like the idea of Drebin points, and the same goes for the skill sets.

Overall this game is a huge upgrade over the original MGO.  Although I'm guessing newcomers to the series won't enjoy it because they will be tempted to constantly run and gun, and that doesn't work all that well in this game.

Yea apparently it is happening to others as well. Found this list of errors

(0901:FFFFFFE0) - Servers are completely down
(090B:00000001) - Servers are Idle, but not available to you
(0903:FFFFFF60) - Theres a network error on your end, such as an unopened port
(090B:00000002) - Network error on your end, try cycling your router
(0692:00000003) - Server overload, keep trying to login and you can get passed it
(2007:FFFFFF9D) - Connection Error, tends to happen when you try getting passed character creation, caused from server overload
(0911:00000003) - Either Server busy or something on the users side
(0911:FFFFFFE0) - Something to do with you being on the wrong server possibly?
(0846:000000004) - Your game ID is locked due to more than 3 login attempts
(090F:FFFFFF60) - Your connection doesn't meet the requirements to create a game

Controls- Perfect. Easy to get used to and the game also offers many variations of training and tutorials to get you ready before you join your first match. There are a ton of options and customizations available involving getting through your menus faster and tweaking everything to your personal preference.

Audio-Superb. There are also a ton of options available involving chat. I've yet to try out my headset yet though and I've also yet to hear anyone else speak.

Graphics-Great, but nothing incredible

Fun Factor-Definitely and a lot of focus on teamwork. That's the only real aspect of the game I haven't completely figured out yet. COD4 fans will take some serious time getting used to this because the characters move much slower but the speed works will with the layout of the game and map sizes.

Man Cannons- As awesome as a man cannon could be.

My favorite thing so far is the CQC. Nothing like sneaking up on someone and beating the crap out of them. And if that doesn't finis them off, then you can put a cap in their head as they lay there helpless. Very satisfying.

EDIT-Meepmoopmeep-The double-click of R3 isn't supposed to show you what's behind you. It recenters the camera to directly "behind you."

oh, thanks Cheez... but doesn't the single click do that? what's the point of both doing the same thing?

I honestly don't remember what the single click does, but I'm pretty positive that's what the double click does. I spent about half an hour in training trying to get all of the controls down. And it does take a little while to get them all under wraps. I was getting pretty good killing people but I've still got a ways to go before I consider myself  familiar with the controls.

My first impression was WTF???
Now after about an hour of play I'm starting to like it.
One thing that bugs me you can quickly cycle through your weapons by tapping R2 but it goes through all the weapons except the knife.

Yeah that's the one. I live in Puerto Rico now, (part of the U.S.) so I thought that it would work along the servers of the U.S. I didn't put anything false while trying to create my ID. I put United States, then Puerto Rico as the location of were I'm living right now. I hope that it'll work later today, if not I'm going to delete it for good.

I'm going to email Konami and see if they can sort things out.

That was one thing I noticed during the 7 or 8 games that I played. NO ONE was talking. I'm hoping I was just with a group of quiet people though. There are a ton of options for chat so it's got to be there. It even has an in-game voice changer (I didn't mess with it) when you are setting up your character.

And just so you know, I'd still be playing it right now if it weren't for the kids. Curious George reruns are far more important than a MGO beta (to them).

It's good. I'm getting used to the switching between TPS/FPS/free views. It's a little clunky at first but you get used to it.

It's definitely fun though.

If you equip the knife at all it'll become a swappable weapon. The last 3 weapons you used are the ones the quick change swaps through.
