All the big titles have done it. Halo accomplished this with flying colors. GTA4 pretty much raped the record halo set. MGS4 certainly won't be setting any records but a lot of people seriously doubter their claims of 1 million day one sales. Konami is going on a tour to promote the game, the marketting is in full swing and Gamestop is doing midnight launches?

Can it be done? A PS3 game to join the ranks of 1 million day 1 sales

First, that Killzone 2 pistol shot you have there kicks ass.

And yes I think that MGS4 will sell one mill in one day, and at least 2 mill. in the first week. Also keep in mind that I am thinking world wide, not just here in the US.

I hope it happens because gamers are awesome and we all deserve great games... but I think it will have a harder time than Halo and GTA4... since one had we over 10 million installed base and the other was on both systems... with over 25 million installed base...

is it possible yes... I think there will be a lot of systems sold because of MGS4 and I think it will get that million mark easy but not as easy as GTA4

If the game is released simultaneously worldwide it can sell a million easily on day one.

well I reckon the pre-orders will hit 1 million. o that is a definite 1 million 1st day of release. Lots of people I know are super hyped for this game and dont think about anything else.

MGS4 will sell more than 1 million copies on the first day of it's release,it is one of the biggest games this year and ALOT of people I know are excited for MGS4 and will pick it up on the first day of it's release including me,MGS4 will also move tons of PS3 consoles in June and on.

First Day really...... you think... I mean I know the game is popular but,.... also it may because I have never played to much of any of the MGS games...

I do have 4 pre-ordered...

Agreed. With all the consoles out there, let's say 10 million just to make it easy

, it'll be one in ten buying it on day one. That doesn't seem like much to me considering how hyped people are for this game.

Thanks for the gif, i'm rocking it right now lol. Also glad you have 4 pre ordered, to some people (such as myself) the MGS series is as good as it gets. Since this is the last one, i fully expect this one to be the best of the 3

@Swede. PS3 sales are probably closer to 14 million now. PS3 will probably hit 14million by the end of MAY. With the 80GB hardware bundle, PS3 will be pushing a lot of consoles since a lot of people have been waiting for 80GB. Lots of 360 only owners will be crossing over as well. Hardware sales will rise for sure but pulling off a million in day 1 will be tough. I think the attatch rate will be HUGE in Japan. They sold out of their hardware bundle pre orders in 10 mins

I wonder when they will release the MGS4 bundles for pre order. They are probably waiting till the last possible minute so as not to negatively impact 40GB sales

I think it will hit a million or pretty close to it. If they market like Halo was then they will. Which they are doing.

Well IT IS a worldwide release. I would be dissipointed if it doesn't hit a million on one day. expecially since its one of the most anticipated games this year.

the only reason i want it to sell so well is so more people can enjoy this epic game.
300,000 in japan confirmed so it's possible to reach the 1M mark.
it won't break records though.
