Rumors that BioWare will develop Mass Effect for the PS3 have been doing the rounds for some time now. There is a new rumor on the prowl; the rumor indicates that the next iteration of Mass Effect will be coming out on the PS3. At this point it is a tossup as anything is possible with BioWare currently being owned by EA.

According to one of Europe’s largest video game magazine, Gamereactor, Mass Effect 2 could be coming out on the PS3 six months after the Xbox 360 version ships. Gamereactor indicates that the source was taken from Gamespot just a few days ago before the information was taken down suddenly.

The Mass Effect on the PS3 rumor has resurfaced a number of times in the past, to be shot down by BioWare. However, with EA taking over the Mass Effect franchise, the chances are good that this series will most likely go multiplatform.

Reports also indicate that EA may have spent close to a billion dollars in acquiring BioWare Corp. and Pandemic Studios after paying out to the stockholders and the bonuses to key employees. With Mass Effect selling only two million units on the Xbox 360, it makes sense the publisher will want to look at different avenues to make good on its investment.

However, if this is indeed the case, I am curious as to how EA and BioWare plans on brining the PS3 players up to speed in regards to the story. How will PS3 owners even know what the Reapers are without playing Mass Effect 1?
Mass Effect is definitely a great game with an involving story and arguably has one of the best dialog tree seen to date. This game should definitely be made available to as many people possible, as it really is underappreciated in terms of sales. As always we will update you with any new developments in the story.

don't want that enless elevator.. crappy graphics (aside from cut scene closeups)... pointless planet exploring... useless dialouge options that have no effect on storyline... crapfest... the game was crap.. it would sully the ps3

If you ask me, Pandemic was a wasteof EA's money. It's just making mediocre games now.

Hey the game was awesome and if more people get to play it even better. If 2 is coming to the PS3 I hope they would add in a summary of what happened in the first one at least.

If they get off the Unreal 3 engine. All UE3 games have popups regardless of platform.

No I have a personal friend who works at Bioware Edmonton and she told me this is false by e-mail.It was a wishlist found on a Scandanavian website from a forum poster.It was spread around the internet until Gamespot snapped up the list.The real reason why they removed it was because they knew it was a fake and nearly ended up submitting a wishlist to the public which would have embarassed all the involved parties.Some things in the wishlist make sense but others are downright ridiculous and I hoped people would figure that out.

Just like any rumors take these with a grain of salt until either Bioware or EA say something.
