Just read an interesting little tidbit about the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 5. Apparently there is talk of it being a prequel with Big Boss as the protagonist. Read the source here http://www.gamingfront.net/story-25-Metal-Gear-Prequel.html
So what do you guys think of this? Good idea, bad idea?

So I take it Raiden's dead then?

Never mind...don't answer that...

My money's on another Big Boss clone they had on ice somewhere all these years.

Well according to Kojima (or Konami I forgot), they wanted to make Snake Eater for the PS3. Apparently it took too long so they had no choice but start developing it for the PS2.

As long as it retains MGS4 gameplay and a seriously toned down story. I honestly don't trust anyone to handle a complext story but kojima

Kojima will still be there, just not as main. I doubt he'll allow them to butcher it.

Considering MGS4 had a war theme to it (story/gameplay), I thought it would be cool to play as the Boss during WWII (where she was branded as a legend).

i'd like to play the story of Big Boss and Zero and how their relationship went sour.
Maybe the quest of Raiden after MGS2.

There is sure doubt in Kojima not being involved as main creator, however, people in his team are also very responsible for coming up with things in the game as well, and doesn't he have a writing partner?

I think the team could go on to make decent games. As much as I respect the long story of MGS, it wouldn't be the worst thing to me to scale that down a little anyway and focus more on gameplay. (hours)

I still think *semi spoiler* the next game could be

Metal Gear Raiden.

yeah he does, Shuyo Murata is the co-writer.

as great as a visionary as Hideo Kojima is, people have to respect his entire team as well. if you watch the documentary on the bonus disc, some of them have added some cool elements to the game as well.
i'm sure they're just as passionate as Hideo and we fans are about the franshise.

Quote me on this:

It's gonna be about Big Boss's war against Zero. FoxHound vs the Patriots. It's going to be the prequel to the Shadow Moses incident and show why Liquid and Solid snake were born.

I think.

Yes, yes, yes! I've been looking for ZOE 1 and 2 black label lately, but to no avail. Too bad I was young and jobless when they were in stock.

Honestly, I just want them to use the MGS4 engine again; that engine pretty much is the best next-gen engine yet. MGS4 is a phenomenal visual achievement... Uncharted is still a bit better in overall textures and slightly in animation, but MGS4 has no screen-tearing, no slowdown, and no frame-rate issues.
