I know this is the PC Gaming section, but i was wondering whether I could get some advice.

My University uses Microsoft Web outlook to allow students to access their emails. I've been able to hook this up to outlook no problems.

However, my problem starts here:

I want to Migrate (auto forward with sender details) all my emails from the Microsoft Exchange Server to my GMAIL (possibly through IMAP?). I use Gmail the most, and it is already linked to 2 other account with exception to the Microsoft one.

Is it Possible?

Currently there is an autoforwarding 'rule' in web outlook that forwards all emails to my gmail. The problem with this set up is, that I can't reply from my gmail or send an email with the from as my university email

GMail HomePage>Settings>Accounts>Get Mail from other accounts.

This uses POP3 though so it might not work with you. But, if you get it going, you have the option to send mail from GMail using this address.

Tried that ^^ wont work. They disabled the servers' POP3, So i need to find a way to do it externally :(

I read somewhere about migrating from exchange to gmail using imap...

http://pantsland.com/2007/11/04/microsoft-exchange-to-gmail-migration-with-imap/

But for the life of me, I dont understand it, (nor does he give an explanation)

edit: All the guides I've read all point to using GMAIL's imap with outlook. But I want to go in the other direction.

He's using a third-party application for it to work (Thunderbird).

Thunderbird is an e-mail application like Outlook by the makers of Firefox. Never used it so can't say how good it is.

After some tinkering I realized that this isn't what I wanted. That method copies OLD emails to my Gmail.

What I need, is to Find some sort of software that downloads all my emails from the Microsoft Exchange Server like outlook. Then synchronizes that with Gmail though IMAP.

Ultimately, I want to make Gmail my unified email system.
