I know, most people would agree, that buying out companies is sometimes bad, but in this case it only could be good. SCI games (the owner of eidos interactive) have numerous ip's that would be benefited if it was bought out. Games like thief, deus ex, legacy of kain, tomb raider, hitman, and other games would be better off in the hands of a wealthier publisher, a publisher that could make these games what they once were, good. So I'm actually rooting for someone to buy them  out... A publisher with experience though. SCI games is basically worth 150 million dollars (200 million for a buyout probably) which is very cheap for what quality ips they have.

Just Cause, Battlestations: Midway - Eidos are my boys! Probably the only developer/publisher I'm a fanboy of.

And with the 40 billion MS is throwing around I would want them to pick SCi up, but they don't really have a massive hits...I don't think.

However, if Sony does buy them and the above mentioned games sequels become PS3 exclusive, mark my words I will buy a PS3 by years end.

Most of those games mentioned... Could be huge hits, with the right advertising, and funding.. Something sony, and microsoft would be able to do..

I would like to see Sony buy a good development company. Too bad they didn't buy Rockstar. They still should.

it wouldnt be a bad buy, problem is that I dont think its worth buying for the mere exclusivity of those titles

Take-two on the other hand, you got loads of great franchises, if the EA deal falls through Sony or Microsoft should be definitely looking to buy that

Thief is probably hands down the best stealth game ever made. Deus Ex was one of the most revoloutinary fps of all time. Tomb Raider still would sell if appropriately advertised, legacy of kain series is still amazing with soul reaver being one of the better games made. It would be foolish not to think these franchises are not premeir quality.

exclusive tomb raider would get alot of press coverage in the non-gaming press for either system.

Not really, it is a dead franchise. Like Crash Bandicoot, or Spyro
