For me, it's Crysis. I'll install a new graphics config or mod and play through the entire 10+ hour single player. I've beaten it like 15 times and it doesn't lose its wow-factor.
I agree, I think after crysis/crysis warhead though dead space is the game that i've played through the most. Crysis/warhead are both so action packed that it's a great game to just pick up and thrash it out, the story is pretty solid too, although there are those that would disagree, i think it's above the lame current standard for game stories. I have played warhead through more times, just because i know it's only about 4 hours front to back. Dead space though, it's all about the gameplay, that game F-ing rocked, awesome combat, coolest upgrades and weapons ever, nuff said.
EDIT: just saw that it was supposed to be a retro game, i misread it as you saying the most replayable games have 'gotta be retro' as in you think older games were more replayable.
I would consider banjo kazooie retro considering it is more than 10 years old, i used to do speed runs, get every single item in the game and do it in about 5.5 hrs, quite an achievement, and it was fun everytime, i was so pissed when there was no gamecube banjo game
If were going super retro, it would have to be 'tanks' on atari, simple,, satisfying, and there was always a "IN YOUR FACE SUCKER!" to/by my brother when one of us won........the analogue sticks ( the old skool "thumb stick" were majorly loose in their sockets at the end of the atari's life
