My little red light (tells me my PS3 is off but the main switch in the back is on) blinks every time I turn it on. If I turn on my PS3 it will freeze, maybe make a weird buzz sound, turn off, and the red light will start blinking. If I touch it, (like when you turn it on) the light stops blinking...

Good thing I still have the manual , I checked the trouble shooting section and it said that maybe the vents are blocked and the inside is too hot, just let it cool off.... Yeah I checked and there's some dust and some red stuff in the back (WTF). I cleaned most of it out but that's all I can get out. I don't know what the red stuff is... I would take a picture but my camera broke .

My PS3 has been hotter before... It's just warm right now, not hot . TURN ON!!!! I hope the manual was right . If it doesn't turn on do you guys think I can get a new one for free if I call the number on the manual? (SCEA: 1-800-345-7669)

I've had my PS3 for over a year (got it March 5th 2007) and I've never had that problem. It's only turned off like that twice and it was cause the little hole it was plugged in to was messed up. I put it in a new one and problem fixed. That was a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time ago .

Don't know, you would have to call. How did you get the dust out of the vents? Not by canned air/blowing on it I hope!

Either way, you need to have some better ventilation in the future.

Sony's warranty is three years I think.

I used a little needle . Blowing it would just push it further inside.

Righto. A vacuum cleaner with the brush attachment works good for me. Sucks it right out.

Ok, I found some red stuff that looks like it melted on my PS3, sort of like a candle. But I haven't used a candle in years . And I would never have it near my PS3, I don't think there are any candles in my house at all . I just took it off, then there was more red stuff in the little holes on the back (vents?). This one was different, it was like little pieces of string but not string, it was waaay smaller. Like someone got a puffy sweater, ripped the little hairs out, shoved them in my PS3, WHERE DID IT COME FROM?!

Wait... I see some of it soming out of the edges of my old binder. Hows that possible? My binder is under my PS3. (My PS3 is sitting on this black thing with 2 levels, PS3 on top, binder all the way on the bottom). They're 2 feet away from each other. That still doesn't explain the melted red stuff...

mabye...and this is a big mabye. the fan sucked up red stuff from the binder, accumulated and melted over time with heat from the ps3, which turn into candle like red stuff

I doubt it, I have the little string like thing right in front of me. Doesn't look like it can be melted and there was too much of it acumulated in one place, it should've gone in my PS3 like the rest.

This clearly explains the mysterious red stuff. It's magma from the celebration in Hell on kwicksandz birthday. They are rejoicing their prodigal son.
