Get rid of the disagree/agree system because its so useless!(i mean if someone disagrees JUST SAY WHY )
I don't think they should get rid of it completely, but they do need to revamp it. This is because of several people disagreeing to ANYONE that posts a postive comment about a certain system or game, or when you disagree with someone who has a clique of friends who are also on the site that will do the same because they are very adament about protecting that opinion from any naysayers.
I won't hide it that I've gotten several disagrees to any comment I make that even remotely disagrees with a comment that Torrence Davis makes (I have noticed this and I'm sure several others that know of my record on this site have noticed this, too). It doesn't matter what the comment is, or what article it's in, or if it's in agreement with most of the other commenters of that article or even responders of his own comments, I'm usually getting kneecapped for saying anything (I can think of why: because I was so openly critical of his site and him after his GTA4 stuff and these people don't like me disagreeing with him at all, much less replying to a comment, because of what happened there. Hell, I PRAISED one of his staff members once and got heat for it because I said that I thought he could better fit a more mainstream gaming site. I'm still wondering what was so wrong in saying that that they had to get so defensive over that).
It's not just me, though. Several others have experienced the "phantom disagree", in which there is always this one disagree that is never explained, and even disagrees to a question that is asked in the comments section (yes, I've noticed this, too).
The name for it gives cause for concern, because there is no way of knowing WHO is disagreeing, so using the current system, a disagree from someone like power of green or bladestar is just as significant as a disagree from someone who has a huge contrib score and more than 9 bubbles (can't think of any names of any well-respected poster on this site right now). Also, you never know if any of them generally disagree with your points or are just slamming it down because you are going against a member of their clique or their beliefs (regardless of how valid your point is compared to theirs).
My idea would be to at least let you see who clicked the agree and disagree buttons. That way, people will know if it's someone with a good sense of the gaming world or just some fanboy whose feelings were hurt by your comments (or a member of a clique). You can accompany this with a small character-limited response as to why they disagreed (which wouldn't count to the bubble usage because you're only allowed to vote once to the agree/disagree vote anyway and it hasn't been limited before to how many posts you vote on). This list can then be seen by everyone by clicking a button to bring up a new window. By reputation of past posts, they can know if that person that disagreed has had a history of fanboy antics on the site or someone that has usually made good points in their posts.
Just an idea. I think it would help keep people honest as to who is disagreeing and why.
