You know what would be great for all us aspiring to be legitimate video games journalists? A "submit your own article" feature. Yeah yeah yeah I can basically write an article in a blog but blog just doesn't roll off the tongue as well as "article". Just a suggestion.

...as if there aren't enough clueless members who accuse articles listed as articles of not being news...

It is an interesting idea. There would have to be some sort of limitation so that not everyone can send things to the mainsite. And 99% of the site doesn't visit the blog section/don't know about it...so that is useless.

Agreed, I think an Admin/mod only approval system could work but who knows. Come on ZT give us a shot.

that's hard to keep up with though.
i've been in the Pending section tons and there are very few Admin/mods that approve stories.
they already have a lot of work to do as it is.

i only see Cat, Syko and JaimieSI or whatever approve stuff.

the Pending section needs some work. there are legit people submitting and approving/reporting
but even some of them just submit and don't approve many stories.

having the Admin/mod approving system is ideal but it's just too much work for the few and they have to keep track of the comments and forums as it is.

i do approve of that system but it's not practical.
plus, it demeans the purpose of this site being a community effort.

Before we only had a mod/admin approval system, the problem was that stories would take days to get the front page, there would be a backlog of about 5 pages worth of pending news which needed to be sorted through. Plus it basically sh**s upon the community driven aspect of the site. I think one of the suggestions should be that admins, mods and contributors should only be able to approve and report stories and make the contributor test harder. That way it would make it harder for people who make dupe accounts to post poor and fanboy news just to get hits/points.

An improvement on the agree/disagree feature and the bubble system on the comments for articles. If you disagree or agree and bubble up or bubble down someone, there should be some sort of area that shows you who did whatever action it is. There are a lot of fanboys who bubble each other up, that should also stop.\

Also, better moderation on the GamerZone. There are people who comment there who don't belong and always post fanboyish comments. If the regular moderators are sleeping, a new moderator should be appointed, one that lives in Europe or one that is usually awake when the regular moderators are sleeping, assuming the regular mods are here in the US.

I think I was misunderstod. What I meant is that mods/admins could go through the already approved blogs and pick one to post on the main site.

My bad, I suppose there could be 3 blocks of space on the main site where there would be the best approved blog, user review and news article could go there. Could encourage users to create and sumbit good news instead of alot of random crap.

I'm not banning you for anything, if anyone is going to say xbot, Sony droid and any other words like that then they will be banned. You were banned becuse you might of broken the rules, insulting a member, being a fanboy, trolling etc can all get you banned from the gamer zone or from the main site.

Is there a way to attach the link of threads you have created permanently to your forum profile?
I found a way to see a few of those I created myself but I can't find the older ones under forum profile.

I'd like a "View Your Posts" feature.  I know you can see them by visiting your profile, but having a link to them in the yellow bar would be awesome.

I would love to see the signature KB limit raised.  100kb hardly does anything and what would it hurt to double that?  I can understand the hate against .gifs but we should be able to have a little breathing room.

Also, I wholeheartedly agree with Harry's suggestions.  There should be a feature that allows us to view all of the posts that we have made in one spot.  Too many times threads get lost in the muck and digging for them takes too much time.

Thanks for listening!

RE: N4G Next Update Suggestions - Monday, January 19, 2009 2:08 PM
How about stories won't raise in heat if they have an active unfixed "bad editing" or "wrong source" report on it. I'm sick of contributors getting unfair heat for their stories just because they heavily edit the title, wait till it hits 50 degrees from a bunch of comments, then fix it to it's more somber original title, but by then it's already guaranteed to at least hit the front page.

Removal of the 8 bubbles = 2 approval points as most fanboys are desperate enough to bubble themselves up anyways and then go and approve articles that otherwise shouldn't be.

A comment section like Kotaku's with collapsible replies in order to remove the spamming of the first comment so that their comment is on the first page rather than on the 3rd.

I would also like the comment loading to happen seamlessly without having to to reload the page just to display it (Ex. viewing a comment made by someone on ignore list, " " by someone with less than your preference of bubbles or uncollapsing the replies).

Remove the glitchiness of the agree/disagree button. I often see the agree's or disagrees going to the wrong people (yeah I know technically it still goes to the right person). I also find it that when I disagree or agree with someone, sometimes I get kicked all the way back up to the top of the comments section.

RE: N4G Next Update Suggestions - Sunday, February 01, 2009 2:45 PM
There needs to be a way for the Admins to lock a story submission so no one can report it.  Prime example: http://www.n4g.com/ps3/NewsPendingCom-268492.aspx?CT=1

It was approved by an admin, and then failed by the sheer volume of fanboys.  It was then restored 3 more times, and failed again within 30 minutes of each restore.  Obviously it is allowed to be on N4G because an admin approved it, yet they are helpless against the shear volume of fanboy reports.  Admins should have the power to lock those highly controversial, yet allowed, stories.

PS3 COMPATIBLE.

N4G does indeed work on the PS3 although there are some problems every now and then.
